    Default RPG Elements...without the rest?

    DLV,

I downloaded and played your mod tonight, and I really enjoyed it.

However, what I mostly enjoy is the roleplaying elements. I prefer the vanilla map, splash screens, faction names, etc (yes, I'm weird that way).

Is there any (easy) way to just have the RPG elements of DLV, without all the other goodies? I love the trait systems, rebellions, banners, swords, and all the other really flashy, wonderfully artistic, descriptive, and fun roleplaying elements tremendously.

I'm basically looking for a "DLV Lite" version!

I'm an amateur modder myself, and possibly could figure it out, but, I don't know how the "guts" of your mod inner-relate, and wouldn't want to unknowingly screw it up without consulting you first.

I'm aware of the Heraldry Mod and dearmad's Blood, etc mod, but, although those mods are great, and I know some of their elements are built into your mod, I really much prefer what I've found in DLV.

    Thank you very much,

    Candelarius

I have to second this motion. I've downloaded and played 2.2 and enjoyed a lot of the role playing elements of DLV, however, the bigmap mod creates a lot of lag, and the 900 turns while epic, just doesn't appeal to me. I would love to be able to use the role-playing portions (crowns, banners, campaigning, rebellions, etc), but on the vanilla map with a faster timescale, ie 1tpy. Is this possible?

this mod is great but some elements are to overwhelming for me, i hope someones posts with a way to change this.

If it were not for the Big Map installed and therefore new province names, it probably would be relatively easy to only install the files associated with traits, ancillaries, and new banners etc. But, the integration of the larger map really has me stumped. Can we get some input from the mod's developers please?

    @Candelarius
I don't know exactly what you expect from me as an answer ?
Only specific questions result in specific answers

traits, ancilliaries are independent from campaign script
traits, ancilliaries (except the ones for crowns, swords, and the regions titles) are independent from map locations

If you want to made a submod for DLV only for vanilla map fell free to do it, but then a lot of reblancing is necessary.

    UPDATE:
Ok, I decided to give this a whirl. I figured since you use a mymod folder it would be possible to delete what files I didn't want to include in this so-called 'DLV Lite' mod idea. So, I started doing just that. I deleted all folders that I knew for certain are completely battle related and have nothing to do with traits/ancillaries/swords&crowns/etc. The goal here is to only have the RPG-ish elements, and nothing else. So, I attached a screen shot of my DLV data folder and the DLV data\text folder. As you can see, I removed all folders that don't seem related. I am not sure of what files can be deleted. I have highlighted in the screens below, in green, those files that I think can be deleted without having to modify them (can you confirm this?). The remaining files I'm sure will be able to be left alone or modified. Can you please examine the images below and tell me if the green files can be deleted? Thank you!

Secondly, I'm not sure if the \data\world folder is necessary. Is there anything in the data\world folder that is necessary for the traits/ancillaries/swords&crowns/etc to work? I think the only thing in there necessary may be the campaign script, but, that may also need to be modified, yes?

I hope you don't mind helping me. Nothing may come of this, but, if I can successfully get this going, I think it would be a very popular mini-mod for the "vanilla" community that would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have just your traits and RPG elements (that don't want anything else that changes "vanilla" gameplay and looks).

Thank you again for your work and help,
    Candel

[sorry for double posting but my previous post was getting a bit long]

Ok repman sir, I've made a lot of progress. I managed to delete all the files that I think are not necessary for only the RPG elements to work. I've attached new screen shots below of my file structure. I used orange this time as my highlighter. In the images, are the orange files outlined necessary? Or can those be deleted? (the grey outlined folders are just placeholders).

I successfully loaded a campaign and everything appears to be working! The king of england and his prince each recieved the proper ancillaries and traits, just like in the normal DLV. Traits appear to be working in general correctly. I need to figure out how to remove the references to Kiev and Flanders, though, since my english princess has traits "of kiev blood" and "of flemish blood". I suppose just deleting or commenting out all references to them in the traits file would remove them?

I'm confused on the campaign world folder. I removed your world folder and inserted the vanilla folder, and everything appears to be working. Is there anything in the world folder that specifically relates to the RPG elements of the mod?

Finally, can the campaign script folder from vanilla be used? Isn't that file only for the garrison functionality?

Thanks again, sorry for posting so much tonight, but, I was just excited at my progress.

If you would like my modified DLV folder to "clean them up", please let me know and I'll posted the altered DLV folder at filefront for you to take a peak at...if you want.

    Thank you again! -Candel

one thing i know you'd have to change in the descr_strat from vanilla is the following:
you'd need to add all the XXXBlood, CharacterAges, ... traits that are specific for dlv.

Hey, i too want to have 1tpy rather than 2tpy and I know you can change the timescale in the data files but am i right in thinking that DLV had rebalanced build times and character ageing etc.?

If so, would it mess my game up that much if I just changed the timescale manually?

character aging in vanilla is 0.5 years in 2 years.
character aging in dlv is normal.
    get it?

Thanks, I know what it's like to receive appeals from fans for "special project" like this, so, no hard feelings, I'm sure you're a busy man.

I'm still poking around at your files, I'm sure I probably could get it working if I spent enough time on it...

...but, I've been playing with the BBB mod today and it's pretty darn close to what I want anyway. I may just stick with dearmad's mod for now until I get more initiative (and time) to work more on this idea.

    Cheers,
    Candel

We'll see. I may pick this up once the official 1.2 patch is out, but, until then, I'm going to sit on my hands for awhile. I have a few other projects I've been wanting to get some work done on and this was something I'd hoped would be quick and easy, but the amount of time needed just isn't available right now. Check out the BBB mod instead, I suggest.
