Mother Teresa is probably one of the most overrated people on the planet. BS does a good job at highlighting that.
Erik
She was a kind woman who tried to do what she could to help the poor of the nation.
To attack her, even if people do think she's overrated, is hitting quite below the belt.
Questioning whether she actually DID what she claimed she was doing isnt hitting below the belt. People like Hitchens have hit upon repeatly that the myth of Mother Teresa far outweighs her actions and alot of them imo are fair questions to ask. The fact she was "Mother" Teresa doesnt make her immune to honest investigation.
as far as saints go these days, she'll do, god sure don't make em like he used to
and it ain't mainstream but its old news that the Vatican gets paid off of Theresa's charity aka a front - I never heard about this cult of suffering but they make a convincing argument

B.S. is quite possibly in the top 5 best shows on television right now.
I actually like most of B.S.'s shows. I agree with them on most things.
Man, Hitchens is getting pretty red in that last bit. Guy can hold his own.
1) The creation of the world is the most marvelous achievement imaginable.
2) The merit of an achievement is the product of (a) its intrinsic quality, and (b) the ability of its creator.
3) The greater the disability (or handicap) of the creator, the more impressive the achievement.
4) The most formidable handicap for a creator would be non-existence.
5) Therefore if we suppose that the universe is the product of an existent creator we can conceive a greater being namely, one who created everything while not existing.
6) Therefore, God does not exist.

Let's take a look at the points of that video.
-Mother Teressa's real name is hard to pronounce. So... ignorance and ad hominem attacks qualify as an argument now?
She never had any children. No kidding - she was a nun.
She built a lot of nunneries. What a moron. What did he think all of those women through out the video were? Elves?
She wanted people to suffer. Trials of the flesh are purifying experiences, but that doesn't mean you deliberately inflict pain on others. To quote the tv guy... that's bs.
The living conditions of the shelter are poor. This is thethird world. What did these idiots think a shelter would be like? A luxury resort? When you have that many people needing your help, you have to spread your resources thin, to cover as many people as possible. What was he expecting? The Hilton? This has to be the most nonsensical attack yet.
Her supporter, in an isolated sentence taken out of context, said "she wants people to live in poverty. I wonder how many hours he spent pouring over the recorded interview before he found that little gem?
Mother Teressa killed millions of people. So, if she just left these children out in the streets to starve, they would have been better off? The little credibility these sleazoids had left just went out the window.
In modern society, it is considered "cool" to bash heroes and heroines. It's nice to believe that there are no heroes, that way you won't feel guilty about your own bad behavior.
When the cops send in their best
Didn't you know? Mother Teresa was a capitalist murderering terrorist!
I'm so sick of people who tear down people who did nothing their whole lives but to help others.
I think the main point is that she is considered a 'Saint' even though her 'charity' does substandard work and has a pretty bad record on actually spending money on the poor. There is no good reason why their accounting books should remain private, no other charity does that. Her organization seems to be more focused on getting converts than on providing healthcare.

Then don't blame the woman just because her helpers sucked after she died.
WTF is wrong with Penn&Teller?!?! Both of my most admired figures are all tarnished by them. Who are they gonna hit next? Martin Luther King Jr?

Woah dude chill. Every paper has another side, they look into the not so obvious stuff.
I don't care for some of their tactics, but the fallacious ones provide comic entertainment(they are a tv show after all) and the specific legit points tend to stand on their own.
What DID they say about Ghandi? Mind outlining?
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.
I think thier main target is the cult of personality around Gandhi and not the actual man.
I find most people irritating

While we're talking about MLK, there was a matter of plagiarism, and the annoying fact that his family won't release his speeches to public domain...

And King was a notorious womaniser, of course. Good on him. He seriously had them on a leash and no mistake.

The truth hurts, huh?
I already knew that Ghandi was a racist.
From a modern p.o.v. he certainly wasn't perfect although his good deeds still outweigh his bad deeds.
I don't know if you have to be perfect to be considered a Saint, though.
What exactly are the qualifications for becoming a "Mahatma"?
Good vid - I never knew that stuff about him.
But yeah, King was actually a dishonest scumbag. He cheated to get his degrees, and was extremely un-"reverend" in his sexual habits. Beating prostitutes and blaspheming God at the same time - great Reverend that one.
