I propose that users that have multiple badges are able to show 2 badges at once.
The reason for this is that someone who has for example the rank opifex but is also a moderator should he or she not be able to show both badges as they are totally different.

They can always display it in their sig, which has been done, numerous times.

Spartan had his numerous badges all piled into his sig. Seems like the way to go, and there is currently no rule barring an individual from displaying multiple badges in that fashion. As long as they all fit the sig rules.

But most people pay attention to the badges not the sigs especially if the writing is small.
That is why they should be allowed to display 2 badges.
Also why should badges for contribution i.e. opifex be overshadowed by say an mod badge that represents a position of the TWC staff.

I think this would clutter things too much. It would be better, IMO, to have the ranks you have listed in the left-hand panel or in the user profile.

I don't think that 1 extra badge would clutter things especially if the current badge size is made smaller.

It should also be kept in mind how much work it would take to do this. Many people here have multiple ranks. Which two out of three or four should be displayed? What about the folks who wouldn't want more than one rank displayed? Those responsible for keeping all the ranks up to date would have a lot of extra work placed on them.

But it looks better in the top than in the sig plus newbies won't understand why the badge is in the sig and not the top.

I only ask for 2 badges to be displayed not 3 or 4 i don't think that is a lot of work.

Furthermore, what technical stuff would it take to do? I think this is in practice a well-intentioned but ill thought out proposal.

Again, something that needs technical approval... my thought is that it would be not worth the hassle to set up, since there is a very large number of combinations that would need to be set up and to keep track of it and change it for everyone would be an administrative nightmare...

There's no need to legislate things like this, our time, and administrative/technical time, can be well served with other things. For now a very viable alternative is to just add it to your sig.

For once I found myself agreeing with Prof420

It would prove unworkable and doesnt add that much - e.g imb39 is hardly going to want to display is Senatori badge along with his admin badge.

Well done for trying to make a improvement though

No can do - would be a technical nightmare and the logistics of finding out who wants which badges would be almost impossible. A nice idea though.

hmm, could we encourage anyone wanting to do that to just put a note in plain text - I remember what that looked like

agreeing with those that said it really doesn't sound that feasible (or something we should be asking Sim to prioritise), but well done for trying to help

    Thats reserved for medals.

    * looks at sim *
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

Yeah. Depending on how big they'll be both could be done. 1/3 avatar/rep, 1/3 medals, 1/3 rank listing.... But alas, I highjack the thread...

This will possibly be done in the fullness of time. Not now. It's definitely something I hope to have for any new skin, regardless.

Oh, btw, this proposal makes perfect sense as far as splitting curial ranks, honorary curial ranks and staff ranks is concerned. It is actually kind of strange that such disparate things are displayed in a single slot.

That is what i am trying to say that why should a moderator for example who is also a opifex for example show his moderator badge which is associated with the staff and not show his opifex badge showing contribution.
At the very least the user should be able to display the the badge he/she wants.
