    Default Recoloring units

    Hello
    I am a real beginner in matter of moding; I was wondering if someone could give me the link of a basic tutorial on How to Color existing Units, for exemple
    the greek peltast ; the greek general's body guard look terrible to me..(there are many like these 2 ( archers, slingers etc..).is there a way to make them looking better ?
    What kind of tools is it needed to put color ?
    thanks

    PAK extractor, this will unpack the skins found in data/packs/models_unit_textures.pak;
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...?do=file&id=43
    Then convert them to .tga or .jpg with this DDS converter;
    http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/fil...onverter;29412

    Then edit them in photoshop or another image program.

    Next, convert them back with the DDS converter. Create a folder in data/models_unit called textures and save them in there.

    Finally, go into descr_model_battle.txt, find the model entry, and redirect the game to your new skin!

    MS Paint cannot be used. for a couple reasons. It doesn't support tgas, alpha channels etc. and it sucks

    Gimp on the other hand, a free tool, is perfectly good for the job if you don't have something like photoshop or paintshop pro.

    I personally don't use it, but I do know it can be used.

    Dont you dare to insult Allpowerfull Paint again. I was grown using it. It might be simple, but useful.

    Paint is **** for complex skins, but it's fine for basic unit recolouring (albeit a little slow).
