Are there any fans of this show, the greatest Roman era show ever, who are also puzzeled over its cancellation? I know that it cost about 100 million a season, but it was worth it! This show was a staple on my Sunday evening activities! Why, oh why, was it cancelled?!

Oh my goodness... that's the greatest news of the season. Thank Jupiter!! Now to sacrifice a few bulls and have a barbecue in honor of this wonderful event.

It was not canceled> It ran its course when Augustus became Rome's firts Emperor or "CAESAR".

Canceled eh, well it was expensive. And really where was it gonna go. Sure I would have liked it to basically follow the lives of the emperors over several seasons, but think of the cost to do that. The amount of casting etc. It makes sense to end the series where they did.

i thought 2nd season was alot better made than the 1st as well.

originally they were thinking that there would be at least a third season, they had even begun contracting one of the writers of season 2 for season 3 - - many many problems sprung up, one, the show was brought through a British production company, and uses many foreign based (british) actors. While 3 year contracts are the norm in US based television productions of this scale, two year contracts are more typical throughout Europe, and Rome, although not as popular as people like us might think, was popular enough that the cost of the actors was about to skyrocket on, as has been mentioned, the most expensive show from a production standpoint in television history

they havn't aired season 2 in Britain as far as i know, but i've watched 10 episodes of season 2 on www.tv-links.co.uk
