    Default The Hardcoded List

    I think it would be a good idea to compile a list of all the hardcoded limits in Medieval 2. There was one of these on the org as well (which I will try to find), but in the meantime Ill start it off:

    Maps:
    *Number of regions: 200 (Including sea regions)
    *Map size smaller maps (e.g map_regions): 510x510 pixels
    *Map size bigger maps (e.g map_heights): 1021x1021 pixels

    Buildings:
    *Maximum number of buildings per tree is 9
    *Maximum number of building trees is 128.

    Units:
    *Maximum number of units per mod/game: +/- 500

    General:
    *Faction Limit: 31 (Including slave/rebel)

    Size of map_regions: 510x510 pixels
    This then affects the sizes of the other map files and just for the heck of it, here they are:
    Size of map_climates: 1021x1021 pixels
    Size of map_heights: 1021x1021 pixels
    Size of map_ground_types: 1021x1021 pixels
    Size of map_roughness: 1020x1020 pixels
    Size of map_features: 510x510 pixels
    Size of map_trade_routes: 510x510 pixels


    Faction Limit: 31, this includes the slave or rebel faction

    The map_regions 510 x 510 actual default?

    Vanilla M2TW has a map_regions size of 295x189 pixels. 510x510 is the limit.

    Is dersc_terrain.txt the only file that needs the projected changes?

    Yeah, if you change the size of the map_regions size, you must chang it accordingly to the descr_terrain file. As for more hardcoded limits, you cannot have more than 500 units per mod/game. This is a rough estimate and I thank Lusted and Admiral-Krause for finding and discussing it.

    I figure this is for all hardcoded stuff rather than just number limits, so don't take my post as spam please.

    CRUSADES:

    Max number of crusades at once: 1
    Can edit the frequency of crusades: No
    Can Orthodox be modded as a crusade target: No

    K that's what I've added.

    maximum number of traits that can be triggered = 11

    You can add this is you want:

    Sounds:
    *Number of sounds, samples and musics: unlimited
    *Number of accent groups: unlimited

    I have reason to doubt this. Im gonna check it out now.

    BTW: Are the effects agents have (say priests effect a region's religion) ... are they hardcoded?

    The max nomber of letters for a character is 42 (not a very useful limit )

    Please tell me what are the limits for the size or the dimensions of a province.

    There isn't one... you can have a province take up the entire 510x510, but if it's more than 50x50, you'll have A.I. issues.

    Is there a maximum number of units recriuted, buildings built, traits, etc. you can have at the end of a turn?
