Im getting the medival2 total war game can anyone tell me what its like im new![]()
rather open-ended question, care to name specifics? u wana know about campagins, battles, politics, etc?
if u ask 'whats it like' id say it was good, interesting, but maybe not as original as rome was when it first came out. still a kickass game though, well worht the money. will be even better after the 1.2 patch.

ive got rome a wicked game im want to know about the battles and campaighn they look good
theres loadsa changes in campaign compared to rome, but its stiller a very similar command style and easy to pick up.
some features of note in the campaign are:
1) princesses and merchants -- royal daughters now appear on the campaign map and are able to instigate diplomacy and marry into other factions to gain generals and family members. merchants are able to gain money by being stationed over trade resources on the campaign map, and can put other merchants out of business.
2) the pope -- for catholic factions their standing with the pope is very important. you can be stopped from attacking another faction on the pope's wishes, and excommunication from the church means your people 'won't be very happy', lol
3) castles and cities -- unlike rome, there are 2 types of settlement. castles create excessive amounts of troops and siege equipment, and are extremely difficult to assault. cities generate money thru large economies and create milita-based troops, which typically aren't as good as castle-trained ones.
battles id say are very much the same, still very involving and the new battle animations add an intresting edge. anyone can feel free to dispute me though![]()
With the leaked 1.2 patch it's a far better gaame. Anyway have you played a Total War game before Medieval rome?
It's bassicly like Rome but set in the Medieval times, with better graphics, and a few extra new things added in, such as the Pope and Jihads and crusades etc. Also has the Merchants, which or not that important but give a little extra cash boost and bring a bit of fun to the game. The campaign is quite good though without the leaked 1.2 patch or a decent mod the ai is a bit bugged with alliances.
what about america and the aztecs crusades look fun
Well you can't really get there till near the end of the game, and the AI never goes there, so it;s just you againt the aztecs also there are only about 8 provinces out there I think if I remember correctly. However int he upcomming expansion Kingdoms, there is a full campaign just bassed on the Spannish in the americas. When you crusade to the holy Land you cna recruit units you can't usually recruit, which is another quite fun thing.
cool french have good cavalry according to allot of people
Oh and the added gun powder as the game goes on, those Elephants with the cannons on top haha, they are so ace!
sounds good im looking forward to crusades you explained alot rome is good but this sounds amazing![]()
Once you do get the game I would advise installing either the leaked 1.2 or the 1.1 patch and wait for the official 1.2, fixes alot of the bugs with the game and makes the game play a bit better
what bugs does this solve e.g allied armies staying in your lands???
i'll tell you somthin though go on youtube and search medieval 2:total war you should see stuff submitted by attilla hes good
Yeah but the are jsut the same idea as the goth and vandal hrde armies of BI, but isntead of being at the begining of the game come in half way through or so
You may be a bit dissapointed with vanilla and 1.1 m2tw. I still played vanilla though for 2 months despite its flaws. I now moved onto the sicilian vespers mod which is great, and if you want a great game try it out. Its under the hosted modifications part of m2tw forums, but you need a RAR unzip program which you can easily find for free. The installation instructions are on the forums for it too.
I recommend you play vanilla and enjoy what it has until you feel like you need something else though. If vanilla had the diplomacy/AI flaws fixed, I would much rather play that than any mod![]()
