    Default Laptop Screen Trouble

Ok, this is really bugging me. Every time I come to my computer after sleeping or school, it is reddish/pinky static. I have to restore nvidia display setting to default. Then move gamma etc around until it is normal again. Then after about 5-10 minutes its perfectly fine. To me, it seems like this happens when I close my laptop screen for a long period of time to go to sleep/school/out.

I havent changed anything whatsoever on my computer, no new games, hardware, wires, routers, or anything like that. So atm it seems either random after a long period of time or more likely when the laptop is closed for a long period of time.

First step would be to check your drivers for the graphics card. Make sure they are up to date.

Is this and LCD screen on a desktop?

No, as the title says, it is a laptop screen. The problem is apparently the screen now that I play around a bit. As I close my laptop screen a notice a tad bit of the red static. Closing it for a couple hours than coming back means a full screen of red static for 5-10mins. Dont know how or why, I never let anything touch the screen part of the plastic back of the screen when its closer, and never put a lot of pressure or anything on it.

does your laptop hibernate or go to standby......might want to play around with those settings and see if that helps. Might need to use a screen saver depending on how old your machine is or not.

I think what Kanaric and Gaius Baltar is trying to say is to open up your laptop (as in unscrew the plastic covers) and see if the monitor is properly connected. If you don't wait to do this, then your best bet is to send it back to the manufacture and leave it to then.

I had another simular problem with a laptop lcd. I had to open it up to see that the cord to plug it is wasn't completely set in place, i reset it and it was fine.

My laptop is only about 5 months old, and it is a very good machine actually. I will try making it so it hibernates or goes to standby quicker, I think I set it at like two hours. Maybe set it to 45 minutes?

Well I know for a fact that it occurs only when I go to move the laptop screen to for example close it or just change the angle. So i dont think that deals with anything of the rest of the cpu?

Well, 6 month no questions asked return policy ended, but I got it from costco so they should be cool about it and let me return it, because I think there is a 2 year warranty, but it may just be through HP. However it may be through costco as long as they determine it was not my fault so i should be alright.
