Default the day of judgement:metaphysical gotcha

why in all the doomsday's do religions insert and "god will come back and tell you all that I was right and you were wrong then he will burninate you terrible, while i bask in heavenly wimminz and lights of purity"

perhaps thats not a direct quote but you get my point

same idea as the whole horrible "left behind" series they seem to revel in the fact that everyone who doesnt believe as they do will suffer a horrible fate in the end time.

technically, the OT states that only jews who have accepted the prophesized Messiah will enter heaven

ie - according to the strict (literal) interpretation of the OT Bible, if you are not a Christian (assuming Christ was the prophesized Messiah) of jewish ancestry, you are not eligible for heaven -
    sorry

I am sure someone who owns a bible can post the revelant passages if anyone is interested.

thats a big ouch from me --- but probably the reason for the rise of protestant evangelism ---"accept jesus as your personal savior and you are saved by the blood of christ" no questions asked ~!

what does the islamic end time prophecy say?

I know that the zoroasterians(sp) believed the world would be divided by a river of molten iron one half destroyed the other half paradise--- men and women would have to swim the river of molten iron to paradise but, if you were a righteous person you the molten iron would feel as warm milk.
if you were a sinful person then the iron would burn and purify you, and the extent of your time in the river of iron was equivalent to your sin-- but everyone gets to paradise.

People have believed some wacky stuff over the years...
"All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others." - Animal Farm

"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" - Douglas Adams (RIP)

We cannot blame believers for literalism, and then invoke literalism in interpreting beliefs.
