You can't doo much... Just play the battle out using the best of your skills. I had a similar situation against the Egyptians at that same point as Venice. They just kepy throwing army after army at me. I suggest you reinforce that point immediately after the battle. More will probably come. And secure the shoreline leading up to the straits.

What do you think will be the result of this battle? what strategy should i apply in order to defend my capital?
it is the most important battle i am about to take part in, since i started playing the game.
just one turn ago, a turkish army tried to take Nicaea, and i was able to defend it, but it cost me too many soldiers lives, i have allmost no army left over there, and they had a smaller army.

after the result of the Nicaea battle, i am more concernd before i go into the defence battle of constantinopolis.

the egyptian armies has 5-8 catapults, some more trebuchets, and lot of infantry units with axes. not too much cavalry. they are on a jihad. it is not a castle i am defending, it is my capital city.

They are attacking your Casstle right, let them assault you got enough to defend your walls. Wish I knew what de other armies looked like, but you should be able to hold them off.

Defend those walls, depending on the number of Siege he has you should do well, you could try do a slow slaughter, using the city as a funnel, chosing locations in the city the enemy will likely march through and making them death trap with units you'll know will hold (ie good experience and armour).

Use any Cav you have to sortie to destroy their siege, and pick off dangerous units. Hold main gates against his horses (if he has any) with spearmen as they can eat through them, or any gaps he makes on you.

Basically do scorched earth, so that for each bit of area he gets into costs him a lot of lives.

Plus as he is egyption your units should likely be better armed than his.

Well they usually deploy their catapults in range of your archers, lol, so that might help...

Lol I had somewhat similar experiences with portugal on tuesday I think. I besieged Toledo with my shooty army: 8 lusitanian javelinmen, 4 archers, a few frankish knights and a few jinetes. So I besiege and push the turn button. Now about the same amount of soldiers as I have, pops up just around me. I defend and kill them all.

Just after gruelling 20 minutes battle, another spanish full stack attacks my besieging army. I kill it too.

Yet after this second 20 minutes battle, a third spanish contingent attacks me, practically all the remnants of the spanish military forces. I kill them aswell, though I have only about 200 men left, and my general died in the last battle. Now, as the spanish have no more troops to throw to the slaughter, I get the citadel without even storming it, since the defenders stood against me in the final battle.

Sheesh, that was a long turn indeed.

Never ever let the AI control any of your forces, specialy if you have a general/family member in that army. The AI seems to have suicidal tendencies when it comes to controling your armies

Just let them come.

Let the computer manage your reinforcements. You are able to win them, so just fight. You can't avoid this kind of situation anyway.

No that is deffinetly not their full strength. If you destroy those jihading armies, they will send another one..
You can't win anything attacking their main cities in egypt.

it's the best and the most honest way to just lure those bastards out and kill them all, once your at it. Makes your life easier, so I think you should send that other army to egyptian mainland to do some lootin' and hootin'....

Stay defensive, choose good grounds for your troops. That's about it. Godspeed.

SO...give my two generals your best advice how to spread up the defence forces.
where should i put the ground infantry, where does the cavalry go, how should i use the archers...anything you can say before i enter this crucial battle for my capital.

What I would do is the following: Put some of your swordmen and all your archers on the wall. At least one quarter of his army should die at the hands of your archers before they even reach the wals. Take care that you leave at least one siege tool intact(preferably a ram so you can fight them at the gate) or else they just stand at the side of the battle map and you have to bring the fight to them. Protect the gates with your spears, rest of swordmen and your General(s). You should win this easily . You can also cheat a bit if your archers can use stakes(don't know, haven't played full byzantium game yet). Put the stakes at the gate, masive slaughter, isn't realy sporty though. Depending on what the other army does, rinse and repeat or fight them in the streats at choke points. Save some arrows for this, put them at flaming when fireing at a choke point full of enemies. If this goes bad retreat to second wall and just duke it out there.

By the time you read this hopefully you have won that battle. First thing I see is Egypt didn’t throw enough at you to take Constantinople so I wouldn’t be worried you should win even though your forces are down men. Count on your heavy infantry keep cavalry in reserves let them come to you I would then leave the city and face them once they are close enough to do so. Archers on the walls obviously and you have seven cavalry in your main command. (Generals included) once your infantry has them engaged just outside your wall bring out the cavalry and sweep around there flanks don’t engage there infantry that your infantry is engaging outside the walls your archers and those heavy Byzantine infantry will stop them sure enough. Your cavalry needs to rush the Egyptian artillery and or archers behind the battle and in this case scenario control your reinforcements not the computer. Egypt will break; you have more men they are the ones that are in trouble here. May I point out your first mistake? You let them siege for two turns and weakened your men. When something like this type of thing occurs sally forth and blow them apart before they get a foot hold in the siege. If they don’t have artillery of any kind they can’t get in and they will not have siege equipment because you react before they can build anything. You can always at that point (if you see nothing of artillery) sit on the walls and kill what you can then (ESC) when you have had enough the battle will end in a draw the siege broken and you’ll have time to regroup and rethink the next battle plan. Hope this worked out for you.
