Garden of Agony
the process of life is brutal and unforgiving even tortuous at times
so if you believe in a kind of purpose for existence you define Suffering as Holy

Re: Garden of Agony
I do believe suffering is a virtue. I find life to be the pursuit of knowledge or truth, and to obtain those is through experience. Experience that is, of all walks of life. Ignorance is bliss, so I feel that the blissful, carefree life is the least rewarding in terms of the afterlife, and the life of perceverence, humility and charity is the most rewarding.

Christians would probably believe suffering is good, as it help you understand and experience Christ's passion, so become closer to him.
