Default Stainless mercs and other mods

Hey, King. Glad to see the mod progressing with the 3.1 patch. I've played the Templars and the Danes in SS 3.0 with great enthusiasm, and have played many of the rest of the factions on SS 2.2. And, I've fallen in love with the new mercenaries. They are very nice and fill the void of non-spear troops in the early game.

Thought I'd give SS a rest for a while, and try out another mod, so I have bee n playing the neweste version of LtC. The diplomacy in it fits my play style, though the enemy armies are not nearly as good as SS AND there are no cool mercenaries.

Would it be okay for me to incorporate your merc files into my version of LtC? I tried it on my own, but apparently did something wrong, because I got a crash at the loading screen. Can you tell me what files are involved?

If you'd rather not say and keep your mercs exclusive to Stainless, I totally understand.

I totaly aggree here...... SS is such a great mod with what armies the computer produce, and the additions to the game are extremely well done

LTC is a great AI mod as well, these 2 are totaly independant on what major factors they change, I would also like to throw a vote to incorporate LTC-SS merger

    Hi wolfgrin,

Of course, you can use the mercenaries for your personal adjusted mod.

You would have to add the entries for the mercenaries into the battle_models.modeldb, the export_descr_unit.txt and the descr_mercenaries.txt files.
Finally you have to add the new textures (check the .modeldb entries) into the ltc folder.
When you have any problems you can write me a pm and I'll try to help...

Hehe , pretty good idea, but I'm afraid that Lusted wouldn't like that!

There is no copyright on his data....just do what I do with Rome get 10 mods together and piece together a great one. He doesn't have to like it.

Good for you, King. That's the ethical thing to do. I respect the work you and Lusted have done, that's why I wrote for permission.

Also, I love your new signature. I have that painting in my house.

    Hehe, nice!

The painting is of the Battle of Bannockburn. The artist is Mark Churms. You can do a Google search for him, and I'm sure you'll find links to his work. He has a number of cool paintings of medieval subjects. I'd also recommend Chris Collingwood (who's a better artist, actually) who has some great works representing Vikings, Romans of all eras and several pieces dedicated to the War of the Roses.
