    Default Wireless help

Ok, so I've bought a wireless router. From what I understand, before it can be used wirelessly, it must be set up whilst plugged into the computer. The problem is this computer does not have the right kind of network port for the cable to plug in, which is a problem as i cant set it up. Using the wireless adapter I have and with the router turned on, it can detect the signal from the router but cannot connect to it, probably because i havent set up the internet on it or anything. Is there a way around this, by taking it to a computer with the necessary port and then bring it back so it will connect wirelessly? The model is a zylex prestige 600. Thank you.

I'm not sure if I'm hearing you right, but your computer has no network port apart from a Wireless connection? Are you sure, most motherboards come with these built in these days.

As for the router, are you sure you can't access it using your computer's wireless connection? Routers typically have their own 'address' like http://10.x.x.x or something like that, read the manual.
You should be able to access the router using your computer's wireless connection.
You may need to fiddle with your network connections (Just go to your wireless connection and make sure it is able to connect, as while it may be able to detect the signal you may have to physically designate it to connect).

Thanks for that. I did eventually get the blasted thing configured, but soon ran into another problem, in that the thing cant connect to the tinternet. Im using tiscali in the UK, any idea if thats PPPoA or PPPoE? In the diagnosis tests on the routers home IP I get

    Test ADSL synchronization PASS
Test ADSL(ATM OAM) loopback test PASS
    Test PPP/PPPoE server connection FAIL
    Ping default gateway FAIL

Ive tried disabling firewalls and such but to no avail. As well, using the command line program and 'ipconfig' I seem to be missing a line. On screenshots ive seen they have an extra one made up of gibberish by IP address, below subnet. I only have the one IP address, which is the routers. ANy help would be much appreciated.
