Default PC Build (not another, "is this a good rig?" topic, honest!)

I've put together my share of PCs over the years, getting the components from the internet. I have noticed, however, that sometimes a PC works amazingly well, and sometimes it's riddled with bugs and crashes for no reason every now and again.

I know enough about PCs to know what components are compatible and what aren't and I always buy compatible parts.

Does anyone either have the same experience as me or know why this happens?

If I've helped you, rep me. I live for rep.

I have always found my self built Pc's to be solid.

But there is always the chance that the motherboards you have been using to build different pc's coupled with Ram that's working fine but not for 100% of the time may have slight glitches.Or come to think of it any installed component.

It's a chicken and the egg thing really, and let's face it windows isn't always reliable either.

At the end of the day i follow my procedure of installation like a robot to help avoid these issues.

I have noticed that my latest build seems to be the best, not just for speed but reliability. Also this time i did spend a bit more on a higher quality motherboard so i can look to that on this occasion.
Or is it that??? who knows...............

Well sometimes one brand is just plain incompatible with the other. For example, all the DDR2 OCZ sticks seems to have a lot of bugs on Intel P965 motherboards.

The best thing to do is to really research every part of your computer before you buy.

I tended to have more problems with AMD systems and MSI boards compared to intel and Asus, but that's hardly representative (3 AMD and 3 intel systems). All in all, they all ran pretty smooth, but if there was some weird glitch, it was with an AMD - but as I said that might be coincidence...
