Can anyone tell me?

I've asked before, but it was mixed in with other stuff, and never really got answered. I was just wondering if the next version of EB will be packaged as a patch also, instead of having to download all of EB over again.

Secondly, it won't be save-game compatable will it?

Is there any need for me to hurry up with the campaign Im on, or will is the next version still a ways off? (More then a month, or two.)

Not sure on that yet. It will have a lot of new stuff. We really may need to make it a totally new download. Just uncertain currently. One thing for sure - it won't be save game compatible. As to the time - we have an internal build with a lot of new stuff, but units aren't integrated yet, so I wouldn't expect anything right around the corner.

I don't think my request will hold much weight, if what must be done, must be done, but I live in the middle of no where, and am only able to receive 56k, without getting into the 90$ a month internet connections, so I really have to take about 4 days out of my computer use, and home phone line to download 400 mb files. (Cell-phone still gets the job done..)

It would be a huge gift to be able to find an alternative that lets people patch it. Even if they have to do it manually, and know what they are doing.

Thanks. Just love the mod, around year 200 in a Roman Campaign, and finding it to be one of my favorites.

I'm in the same situation - I have to travel an hour to download big files. But I make do with my 27k connection most of the time. We'll think about using a patch, but we are having a lot of trouble with incorrectly installed patches and so it might just be a single file.

Sucks.. I can appreciate the reasoning behind it though. Easier to get the mod in more hands by having it as one simple installer.

I have no experience in it, but would it be hard to release a source zip, even if it wasn't official, like people do when working on apps? Im pretty sure I would be able to install it myself if I just had the raw ingredients.

(Can see how the team would be against it, if they were worried about keeping their hard-work from being stolen outside the mod.)
