    Default TEUTONIC ORDER -finished-

    The Teutonic Order faction is basically ready. Aside from a few minor graphic adjustments that can be done, we think that the faction is ready to go ...

    Until we script it as an emergent faction we will count it as a starting faction

    ...here a brief overview about the faction and the units

    - The Teutonic Order starts in a very weak position and will need a lot of time and skill reach a strong position by the early XIII century like it did historically ... at the beginning it can be easily crushed by poland and russia and with both you will have already bad relationships ... its probably one of the hardest factions to play ...little money, many enemies ...
    - units ... the Teutonic order rely on excellent cavalry, teutonic knights takes ages to be trained ( they are few ) but they are war machines ...also crusading knights and german errant knights can come to your aid .

    The teutonic order suffers a big gap between excellent units and cheap ones. Even if the standard spearmen is more than adequate to face the other east infantries, dont expect them to be the core of your army ...you will live and die with your knights ...btw there are some interesting veteran foot units. They will take years to be completed but some teutonic veterans with axes, big swords or spears can help alot ...if you have the money to afford them. Along with peasants the crossbowmen will be very useful, they are militia to reflect their wide use in the teutonic army.

    The army list reflects the interest of the order in gunpowder weapons ...

    Looks good man wish we could have had those special helms they are showing in MTWKingdoms but it seems we can't alter the skeletons or 3-d settings of a model.... hopefully this will be accesseble in the future hopefully (but not likely) in patch 1.2 that is due to realese uhhh sometime this mont... no thats not right.... ugh whenever its realesed.....

    i still not belive alot that they used them in battle ...do you immagine swinging the sword with that thing on the head ... broken necks ...

    this faction is based on the teutonic mod by zepherial ... so he will have mention in the mods ...while the other factions are all made by us with some little use of burreks textures

    What cities will the Teutonic Order have at the start? I'm guessing the Former Livonian cities of Rīga and Tallin?

    And by the way, I'm new.

    the Teutonic Order will be an emerging faction. I think that they will likely spawn upon an event (capture of Acre). I think their home will be in Thorn (I have to double-check that.

    welcome ... the factions arent already placed ... first we finish factions and maps ...then we will open the big books , our knowledge and we will place the factions as the best we can
    And we will do it more in a reasonable way than an historic way ...
    i mean , i see many mods giving half italy to the HRE in 1080 .. yes that was right but just "on paper" ..the effective ruling of the empire over north italy was always , except for very briefs moments , almost null .
    The cities were indipendant and even if they were "pro" empire they made their alliance , wars taking no care of the interests of the empire .
    The emperors went there , fought , win , peace , rebellion , returned , fought , win , peace , rebellion , returned , fought , lose , e so on ...

    If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the Teutonic Order mostly located in Prussia and the Baltic?

    While yes, they Crusaded, but they were still mostly located in the above mentioned areas.

    And from a campaign standpoint, it would act as a buffer for Western Europe from Russia, and would create a rivalry between Poland, Denmark, and Russia on who would take thier lands first.

    It would be hard, and it would only need two cities. So please, rethink your decision.

    Edit: My facts are mistaken, the TO origninated in Acre, don't mind this then. I just desperatly wanted a Baltic nation.

    Yes, they did originate in Acre. You are correct, however, that much of what they did occurred in Europe. I think that the spawning event will be the capture of Acre by a Catholic faction. The TO will probably appear (spawn) in Europe, near or in Thorn, several turns later.
