Medieval English writing was of the most grandeur wonkiness. An S was something like an f, v's were u's and vice versa, and it is most likely that W's were simply U's.

That spelling is from SSNOP which made its way partially to the Bugfix Compilation, as all other scottish names already had the "weird" old scottish spelling
