    Default Your Favourite Word

I am starting this thread in the Arts as language can more than often be an art in itself. Particularly in literature and theater. What I would like is for every body to say what their favourite word is and give a definition of it's meaning. Non English words are more than welcome but please can you post an English definition. You may post multiple words as long as you don't post the dictionary! Even vernacular dialect is acceptable here as long as a coherent description is offered. Also due to the advertising regulations of the site and the Pg 13 rating please keep within ToS. I shall start with my own.

Soliloquy - Talking to oneself when no one else is present, a discourse uttered with none to hear. It is prevalent in Shakespeare when a character is telling the audience what is on their mind. The actor is not talking to the audience (as they are not really there). What we are seeing is the frame of mind and decisions of the character for the situation placed before them.

Hope you enjoy the thread and please keep it civil.

not a word, i know, but one a come across a lot in law
Prima Facie, it just rolls off the tongue so easily, and sounds so nice its much preferred to its english transation - at first sight - its used to describe principle opinions on a case or situation based on the initial evidence without evaluation. You would say, he has a prima facie strong case.

I derive pleasure from any similar words of this genre, such as Hullabaloo. I must commend imb also for recently bringing up the word Kerfuffle in discussion!

Interfrastically - Does not have any meaning and thus can be applied in any contect with the effect of utterly confusing your mates.
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

****- The single most versatile word in the English language, and can be in any sentence for any purpose, and can be any thing. Verb, noun, article, adjective, participle. Any word you can use in the English language could probably be substituted with the word "****", and still make a coherent sentence.

Ah, I've thought of another one. I first heard about it two years ago. I have a family friend who has been trying unsuccessfully to work it into conversation for twenty years. And here it is for you all to see:

Floccinaucinihilipilification - To judge something to be of little or no value.
