Don't know if this counts, but in the film Italian Job, the English original one with Michael "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" Caine, I want them to escape with the gold but they end up hanging over a cliff in the coach. "It's alright boys I have a plan" says Caine. The film then ends. I always hoped they made it!

Apart from that in any crime film, I always root for the crimninals.

What about that French guy in Ocean's Twelve?
