'THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM.' trailer, featuring Matt Damon, is online and available here.

    Plot:

Rogue agent Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is still being hunted by the very people at the CIA that transformed him into a killer. Still suffering from amnesia and determined to finally learn of his true identity, he is lured out of hiding to make contact with a journalist named Simon Ross (Paddy Considine), who has been following his story. Throughout his research, Ross has gathered up valuable information about Bourne and Treadstone, the organization that trained him. That’s rather inconvenient for US government offical Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), who is looking to start up a new organization under the codename Blackbriar that would follow in Treadstone’s footsteps.

With intent to kill Bourne and the journalist before they expose the program’s disturbing secrets, Vosen sends agent Pam Landy (Joan Allen) to lead the search effort. Simultaneously, Paz (Edgar Ramirez), one of the remaining few living Treadstone assassins, is dispatched to take both Bourne and Ross out. In order to finally learn of his true origins and find some inner peace, Bourne will have to evade, outsmart, and outmaneuver the deadliest group of highly-trained killers yet.

When I heard that they were coming out with a third Bourne movie, I thought "what else could they possibly do?" Well, that teaser has certainly peaked my interest.

i read the 3rd book a while ago and didn't like it, the movie needs to improve on it imo or else it wont be that good. At least for me.

Well that's gonna be hard considering the previous 2 movies had almost nothing to do with the books.

Ludlum's stories were about Carlos the Jackal, for pity's sake. It is very much for the best that the films have nothing to do with them. Though it does puzzle me in such situations - why don't the producers just change the characters' names and make a complete break from the books they clearly are NOT adapting? Have you seen those movies with Morgan Freeman - Along Came a Spider, or Kiss the Girls - thank GOD they bore almost no relation to the novels, which are total chaotic garbage...you really know a writer is **** when the film adaptations of his books are 50 times better than the books themselves.

Because Jason Bourne is an established character and the first movie still uses the basic premise of a guy found unconscious at sea who discovers that he's a secret agent. So you can't really use that premise without using the "license".

Yes they could, easily, because the 'Hero with amnesia desperate to discover truth of why he's being hunted' premise is cliched and hackneyed. There would be no risk of copyright infringement whatsoever, if they just made Jason Bourne into 'Otto Goodbury' on the script. Job done.

Well there've been lawsuits over smaller similarities. I've read the first 2 Bourne books and I'm pretty sure I would have picked up on the similar storylines in the first. Point is, why make up some character and act like you didn't use Robert Ludlum as inspiration when you can use an established character and go "based on the bestselling novel"?
