Default Who is the 'bad guy'?

This is a fun game that we played in my Senior US Government class. One person would think up a hypothetical war or problem in the world, where both sides could easily be 'good' or 'bad', and the next person would chose the wrong doer and then they'd make a hypothetical problem.

Thought I'd test it out here.

So there are two small countries. One is very industry rich while the other is very oil rich. The industrious country's population had seen a durastic decline over the past few weeks and they've also noticed that country 2's population had been sky rocketing, country 1 is on pace for extinction in the next 100 years. Country 2 is now refusing to buy oil from country 1 until they give 50% of their industry and land to them, no militaristic threats were made. Country 1's oil supply had skyrocketed but they had no demand, so the price went down destroying their economy. Country 2 invades country 1.

    Who is at fault?

I think you made up a mess yourself of the countries 1 and 2, but anyway.

Industrious country which invades oil rich country is at fault. Do you realize the implications this apparently fun game may have? Are you aware of the manipulation/conditioning effect implicit on it?

What a sickening educational attempt to brainwash students. Are you in the USA?

I'd say the Industrious country is the ones at fault (bad guys sounds so bad)

Wow, I think that that's reading into it a bit far - it's just presenting a hypothetical situation as a learning tool to increase student's awareness of real-life situations...

I would also have to say the industrious country is at fault.
And lighten up it is only a hypothesis.

I am a bit confused with the country 1 and 2 thing, it's not too clear that the industrial country had invaded the oil country... and if they did it would be hard for them if they are the ones with the decreasing population.
Anway, there is no real reason to invade by either party, so the invading country is at fault. By and large however, if they win, they're heroes, if country 3 comes and saves country 1, than country 2 are losers who will pay reparations for the next 20 years, and country 4, having had no interaction despite strong loyalities and treaties with country 1 will lose all credibility and will be invaded in 50 years by a three front war!
I have to agree with the other two, as well.. lighten up! I do see where you're coming from, Ibn Rushd, but sometimes these things are just for fun. Keep it cool!

First of all there is no country 3 and 4.
Second country 1 is the industrial one and country 2 is the oil rich one.
    (Just to clear things up)
