The following thread is copied from a SCC thread, that is my answer to somebody who couldn't get started Chivalry with 0.94.1 (who displayed his preferences settings, his max. display-option is 1072x768 with 60Hz):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought already that such a report would come, as i forgot to put in a normal preferences.txt [mischief]
So any users with such lower hardware-options might have the same problem.
In your case above it might be, that the following lines are still a problem (bold):
Eventually change them also to 1024x768 ...STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1024x768
STRATEGY_MAX_RESOLUTION:1280x960
STRATEGY_32_BIT:FALSE
BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1024x768
BATTLE_MAX_RESOLUTION:1280x960
The general solution for any of those problems should be: (this solution here pressumes, that chivalry is proper installed in the RTW directory, and a correct shortcut-path is provided, and just still the use of the former used Chiv-shortcut of any previous installed version, and if 0.94.1 is in the same RTW directory installed - otherwise, there might be other kind of install problems)
- Open the RTW/chivalry folder
- Open the contained preferences folder
- Open the backup preferences folder
- Copy the there contained preferences
- Paiste it into the former opened preferences folder, overwrite, done.
- Start again the game to check it out if this worked.
After that, eventually go again into this now active prefernces.txt, and change any settings you like to customize.
Note, the backuped preferences has for example the green arrow markers and other battle ui active, as it is in Rome vanilla.
Alternative: Just copy the preferences of Rome vanilla into the chivalry/preferences (in this case though, the campaign would make again auto-saves, which might lead to more Rome vanilla-produced ctd's).
