    Default EB team for opifex

    Proposer: Sir Dinadan

    Supporters: Aristophanes, -apocalypsis-

I would like you to consider the Europa Barbarorum (EB) team for Opifex. Yes the whole team, a full conversion mod is pretty much the ultimate contribution in modding terms and many have been released in the last few months, i think it has been remiss of the Curia not to recognise that fact, one which i hope you will all take this opportunity to remedy.

My Hope is that should the Curia recognise the release of this Mod is truly a feat of mammoth proportions, that any team members who made a considerable contribution to the Mod are awarded the rank of Opifex.

I also ask the Curia to allow any members of the team who wish to defer citizenship be allowed to do so. I have never thought that the Opifex rank should be a Curial rank anyway, a view which i believe is borne out by the fact that few (if any) of the current holders of the Opifex rank attend the Curia on a regular basis. So basically that should not be an issue.

Let me go into some detail about EB.

Just starting up the game shows you how much time and blood was put into this game. The UI is enough itself to win medals. The attention and depth of realism is quite shocking. They have worked around countless problems and have pushed the RTW hardcode to the test. You may wonder then, why it is in stage 0.81. The EB team puts many hours of beta testing into their game to make sure it is balanced and as CTDless as possible. Their 0.81 is another mods 1.0(and sometimes more professional too) They have spent countless hours making a mod that still brings so much enjoyment from a game that most have put on the shelf without this mod. And as a side note:

If you are still weary, I suggest you download the game itself and play it.

Well I know I downloaded EB and it was one of the best mods I'd ever played, and the amount of work that has gone into it is obvious, and thus, I give my support.

EB, with the historical research that has been done alone, completely blows away RTW in scope...by a factor of like a million. EB, in fact, is pretty much a virtual history/geography lesson.
When we consider that they've created hundreds of new units, unit skins, textures, and animations, many of which are used by several other mods, as well as new game interfaces for cultures and factions; that they've create a world map which, reflects to an amazing degree the actual landscape of that part of the world; that they pioneered scripting, how can they not be worthy of this? EB alone has probably tripled the long-term playability and enjoyability of RTW for me.

I thought we created Golden Modding Laurel so we could reward the whole mod teams instead of inviduals.

Golden Modding Laurel– Any Modding team which a part of the community may be awarded the honour. The honour is awarded by either the Council or a simple majority of non abstaining CdC voters. Any member can nominate a mod for the award and if awarded a thread will be opened in the Curia honouring the mod and its team. From that Pont onward the modding team is allowed to use the honour in advertising and may be awarded gifts such as interviews and exposure. A modding triumph is also to be announced on the front page.

There is no reason i can see that a team cannot be proposed as Opifex. The above is one way to honour the huge efforts total conversion mods take, i have proposed another.

    Do both?

    Support so much it hurts.
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

Would you rather me make a separate thread for each EB member? I'll be willing to, they deserve it!

It feels somewhat strange to have medal as an award for whole mod teams and at the same time propose them all to Opifex, that is personal award which we should vote each invidually and based on their own merit.

Nothing against it in general, but for me it's rather unsuspected and a bit odd proposal.

I don't think you can propose an entire group of people be voted on under just one poll, the constitution is worded to allow for individuals to be nominated only (ie "the nominee" "His nomination").

Each individual should be considered on their own merit, as Ragabash says.

In any case the Curator should decide.

Every single team member? You know, technically last I heard I was an EB team member. I still have access to their private forum. So do I get to be Opifex too? Certainly Khelvan, Teleklos, Aymar, Kull, and so on, but all of them (us?) is kind of silly.

I agree with Sim, this is utterly stupid, all the team and no excpetions? What if the team don't think someone deserves it? *sigh* I support in principal and you can add my name but i really think you should be getting names first before bandwagoning a whole mod team for Opifex. There will have to be a vote on every single team member too...can't people have a little more foresight before doing this kind of thing?

    Support, begrudgingly.

As an active EB member i wont support or not but i will say it may get a tad confusing to implement as some members are massive long standers whereas others have done 2 skins and vanished for example and of course some arent even active on TWC

And that is my other niggle, I know EB have big problems with people joining then disappearing, some don't even have account on TWC. I think Sir Dinadan should get some names together before this goes to a vote...

But then they are no longer on the team, right?

Can't support this since I haven't played it. But sure, I've heard of this, alot of things!

As your support is only given grudgingly it is unwanted, thank you.

Perhaps before you make your view so final you may wish to look at this thread, i am not in the habit of making pointless or stupid proposals, nor am i foolish enough to make a proposal without a back up plan.

    I had read your thread.

I think EB is unique compared to the other though as many don't have accounts on TWC, SoR has said this too, personally I'd rather we got a bunch of names together of the EB members who do have accounts on TWC and go from there. (and maybe get those who don't to sign up? )

Then Sir Dinadan will get my wholehearted support, as I don't believe this is your proposal. Don't take offense all the time, I'd rather we got some names together before voting, is there a problem with that?

Agreed, I should get a list of specific names. I shall work on it.

I hope such proposals, which are only made in good will, never become a source of dispute (I'm sure most people should be mature enough to decide who really deserves what)... so once you get that list, I definitely support!
