Default Need help with wireless network

My wireless network doesn't work (or rather works but gets disconnected soon after being setup). Any idea to make it last permanently?
I was looking into buying a signal booster but since the damn thing is $100 and I have no intention of paying for it myself, I need a guarantee that it'll work before I bother doing anything. If it helps, the guys installing cable told me I had a weak signal, this is not an issue of wireless connectivity (very strong signal) and my modem's info page says the following:
    Name
    WebSTAR DPC2100

    Modem Serial Number
    103437393

    Hardware Version
    v1.1

    Software Version
    v2.0.1r1133

    Receive Power Level
    -6.2 dBmV

    Transmit Power Level
    47.8 dBmV

    Cable Modem Status
    Operational

If your going wireless from a cable connection and the cable connection is slow/bad then the wireless isn't going to be any better. The weak link is the cable connection.

    Unless I misunderstood?

Often times the cable company will lock down the signal to the MAC address of the cable modem/computer setup (I assume thats what your using to relay the signal).

To use the wireless then, you need to spoof the MAC address of the computer you are using, and then set up the wirless to obtain an IP address(s) from a DHCP server. effectively bypassing your cable company. [cable modem] ------[wireless]-------computer

Sounds complicated but actually simple and used by many here in the US to piggyback a wireless onto a cable signal.

What model of wireless router do you have?

First check to see if your internet works when connected directly to the modem, this way we find out if it's your connection or the wireless network.

Mate, never post your MAC address, your just calling for someone to get into your host. Once they get your IP from TWC, it will be easy pickings.
