    Default settling romans

    i was just wondering

if you conquer an enemy's city and enslave or exterminate its population, would it have effect on the general happiness of the city to repopulate it with roman people (disband town guard in the city i.e.)?

cause i just conquered carthage and the city south of it (hadrementum? can't remember) and i had to exterminate the population to keep the peace.
but i need people for recruiting black shield legionnaires to conquer the rest of north africa.

ps when i exterminated carthage, the banner said i'd kill 30.000 people and when i looked at the newly conquered town's details, it still had a population of 11.000. that means it had a population of +40.000 people, that's massive!

also a hint: when you have population troubles (too much people), create full stacks of town guard/watch to lower your population (happiness will increase) and disband them in enemy territory. your people are happy, costs will lower for keeping people happy and you're rid of overpopulation.

A roman city with all buildings built will not cause problems regardless of population. I have cities with 140% loyalty, very high taxes, yearly games and no garrison except the governor, and that is with 35,000 people.

yeah but how far are those cities from your capital? it's not hard to do that with cities on the italian peninsula that are right by the capital city, but the further you get, the more distance penalty there is

rep me if you like my posts, and it's highly likely you'll get some back

Governed Right you will have no issues. But beware overly RICH provinces can lead to Revolts from the governors. ;-)
