Some in battle issues I'm having....
I'm having some problems in battles. First, the formations are problematic for both multiunit and single unit level.
When I but units into say, Single sorted line, I get really weird formations. This wasn't an issue in early legion, as this was ideal for putting units into a hastati/pincibles/triarii formation, but later on, (I forcefeed cities to get to marius as fast as I can,) it's an issue. I tried to do a formation with auxilieries on the flanks and my own troops in the center, but instead I get a lopsided flaky version of the early formation.
______________________________________________________________
On the SINGLE unit level, the units seem much less flexible then they did in RTW. IE, Let's say I line up some infantry, (Non-phylanx infantry mind you,) for a flanking move. I charge at the side of the enemy formation, so my (Say ten ranks,) face their two ranks from the new position.
Like this.
O

O ******************
O ******************

Then we charge, and they wrap to attack both sides, like this (In the orginal RTW mind you)
OOOOOO
O**********
O**********
OOOOOO
Bendy units if you will.
But now, they STAY in their line after they hit,
So (in RTRPE) I end up with a FIGHT which looks like this. With only like, three guys wailing on each other, and the rest just sticking out doing nothing.
O

Which is annoying.

Also annoying is this. I'm fighting the Selucids, (Which BTW, is just too damn big an empire. Too many of them, so fighting them rather dominates the game. but that's another issue...)
As I was saying, They line up with their pike formations, and I line up with my men and my scorpions, since I like to bombard them before closing.
The pikes go up and down CONSTANTLY whilst they do nothing. It's like watching an enemy army do the wave. OR maybe they are trying to get a wind blowing against my scorpion missles? It's just really weird.

You`re playing RTRPE v1.8, right? I am pretty sure that the formation files will be changed for the next version. Maybe we`ll revert to the ones that we have in RTRPE v1.7.
