    Default Name Reversion

In short, I think the new latin names are terrible, and would like to see us revert to our traditional names, such as Civitate. Being a Civitate of the Curia is far more special to me than being a Burgensis of the Parliamentum.

    Names Ratification Decision
A poll shall be opened with the title 'Do you like the new Medieval Latin Names'. If this decision passes with a plurality of the votes the names shall be retained, if it fails the names shall be reverted to the way they were before.

To be honest, I agree ...

I never remember these names going to vote, but it was probably before I gained Citizenship.

Either way, I'm not a fan of these new names ...

There was a vote, some months ago and back when only patrician could vote, that passed saying there would be a vote on a theme. Then there was a vote on a theme, and medieval latin passed. And then recently these names were picked and implemented. So there was a vote, just not on the names themselves.

I'm yet to meet someone outside of Sim who is. I assume there are some, and I'm interested to hear their ideas.

    Scorch.

Medieval Feudal Latin was voted last Novemeber, but took some time to get implemented due to crisis with ON and all.

Now that the names of the theme have been finally decided I embrace them with open heart and a flower in my hand.

    Here are the votes:

They sound...well, unimposing. CVRIA. Powerful name that exudes confidence. Camera Proponentum...sounds like a cheap italian resturaunt. Burgers or whatever the hell my new title is sound like I am a disease carrying undercooked piece of cow meat.

I realise there were votes, but that doesn't keep the names from sucking.

I aprrciate the effort and thought put into the new names. They are good, but personally, I do prefer the old Latin over the new. They are both good, though that is my personal preference...

Ditto. I oppose the changes; despite the blood, sweat and tears expended to develop them. Personally, I think the November vote was skewed by that fact that no one knew exactly what language/words would be used to replace the old system (a blind vote). Had the current list been proposed as part a parcel of the decision to make the change at that time, I doubt it would have passed. Another question is who exactly does like these names? Who are we changing them for?

That is the funniest thing I've heard all day, and surprisingly, I agree.

I support. I'm too use to the old names and these new names sound funny and unimposing like Mudd stated

Infact, if I remember right it was Medieval English theme (ON decision) we were supposed to have but the Curia still voted for Medieval Feudal Latin theme.

I thought the vote included merely a list of possible choices rather than a specific choice? At any rate, it doesn't make the names less sucky.

Here is complete list of poll options from which we chose Feudal Medieval Latin theme so I like to see there were more then enough good choices.

Of course it might take some time to get used, but I like to see this change as positive.

Thanks for the screenie. There's some pretty random choices in that list; Medieval English would've been the way to go, IMO (or stay the same).

I'd like to go back to the old names as well.

I know there was lots of effort put into researching and deciding but I do prefer to old system. Maybe we can have another vote where only the old and new system are put to vote instead of the 100 choices in the old voting thread?

I'd suggest a new vote because:

    - It seems there are quite a few people who dislike the new names. So I guess there'd be enough support for another vote.

    - When the first vote took place only the language was put to vote and no one actually saw what the new names would be.

    - with all the chaos at the end of last year and civitates not being allowed to vote I think a new vote would be appropriate as this is something which concerns all of the ranks.

    So I'd ask for whether:

a new vote on the names

    or at least

the possibility for a vote if there should be a new vote on the names

How about a decision to ratify the new names? If it fails, we can go back to the old.

Support, I will do all in my power to revert to the old system.

    I am not a map.

These new names do not hold a candle to the old ones. I do, however, respect and appreciate all the work that went into implementing them. It is no ones fault that they suck.
