He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.
Hmmm. What was it we decided I was a year or two ago? :hmmm:
Oh yes. I am a Peganistic-Christian-Jew (with Buddist tendancies).

I don't believe in god, nor do I believe in the devil. I do have my own ideas about higher beings though. So, to answer the question of the thread, I have no religion. Religion is just another form of government, in my opinion. I'll come to my own conclusions, for as long as I can come to them.![]()

Catholics are christians, fyi.
Catholics are different then Christians? Gee, I always thought they were the original Christians, along with the Eastern Orthodox brothers.
For your information, a Catholic is a Christian of the Universal (Catholic) Faith founded by Christ in His ministry on Earth.

Yes, there have been! I'm sure that one of our librarians could answer just how many "What Religion are You?" threads there have been.
In answer to the question, however, I am a baptized, confirmed, communicant member of the LCMS (Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod). And like one or two of our atheist friends, I'm proud of it!![]()

Atheists may be atheists because they believe in a "lack of gods". So, like you say, they are not "anti-god" because they don't believe in a god/gods. However, in many of them, this manifests itself as a virulent strain of anti-Christian sentiment. This, of course, is not meant to be a generalization.
Oh yes, I am one of them (not just anti-Christian though*). But being anti-religion is not the same as being anti-God.
*to clarify, when I think of religions I don't like (the list is long), the first to spring to my mind is certainly Christianity. But that's just because I grew up in a country where Christianity is the dominant religion and most of my family are Christians, one way or the other. It's kind of funny that way, because you see the same thing among religious people -- the most accurate predictors of a person's religion are geography and genealogy. I'm not (in this instance at least) trying to belittle your beliefs... I just think it's kind of a funny parallel. I'm sure if I grew up in a Muslim country I would think of Islam first (it's a close second now).

Well, Othodox separated from the Catholics after the great schism (did I write that correct?) which happend in 1054. The reason was that the great Catholic leader in (by then) puny Rome was spritial head of the greatest empire of that time, situated just down the road. In Constantinople, this did not go down very well. In 1054 the Byzantines separated to go it their own way. So Orthodox christians came about 800 years later.
The catholic faith wasn't actually founded by Christ (though he is one of the leading stars). Very important was the appostle Peter (to this day, the Pope is the successor of the appostle Peter) who seems to have organised part of the present church. Mind you, the real bible came in 350 (or so) AD, when the a few of the existing gospels (I think 4 out of the existing 13) where combined. So catholic faith wasn't really founded (like the Muslim faith with Mohammed). It had a slow start but gradually (though the work of many people) became larger and larger - over the period of a few hundred years it became ultimately dominant so that even the Romans couldn't ignore it. And they didn't...
Edit: btw, I'm catholic.
Read the Catchecism of the Catholic Church, and you will agree with me. Not that it really matters.

Let my words carry you:
"JUSTICE is a TEACHER. In your PUNISHMENT, gain STRENGTH. Through your PUNISHMENT, achieve PERFECTION."
Agnostic means that there is no way to prove existence or non-existence, so therefore we cannot know and he takes the middle road.
The most correct term for a non-dogmatic believer in god(s) would be theist, assuming there arent any other qualifiers in there that fit the dogma of Deist/pantheist/etc.
I used to be a skeptic deist, but I'm a true agnostic all the way.
If I met God I wouldn't be able to tell if I'm in a coma or high. And if god does not exist... there is no way to know. I just avoid religion; there is nothing useful for me there. Perhaps when I am dying I will become a theist of some sort, but in my youth I will stay an agnostic most likely.
