Good indie bands!

Hey all, I'm a big fan of indie music, and was wondering how many of you people are as well. I'm creating this thread in the hope that people can share good indie bands with each other, we all know how hard to find some of them can be. It seems we have a decent number of fans here judging from empty's thread on The Arcade Fire and the talk of the Decemberists.

Here's a band I'd like to share.

Margot & The Nuclear So and So's. If you like The Decemberists, you'll like them. Even if you don't, you'll still like them. Their sound is unique from most indie bands, and their song writing is quite good. Have a listen.

indie's best kept secret

technically they're not indie, havn't been since they signed their deal. they're on Artemis Records which is now owned by Universal/Seagrams.

so they're a major label band.

unless you're using "indie" as a genrea classification, which is kinda wrong but done sadly.

I just see them as an acousticly driven, roots-pop band

Coral are awesome! Surely the best psychedelic or indie band right now (at least for me).
I've also seen The Strokes and Dirty Pretty Things live, next I'm tryin' to see The Who and I would be seen Bloc Party if they had a better day than the one they'll be playin' here...

I like to think of myself as a little indie, my favourite bands atm are (indie-wise)

Sigur Ros - spectacular ambient/postrock/crazy-town band from iceland


Subaudible Hum - and... indie band from Australia, they're a bit on the heavy side of things, and getting a hold of their music can be a bit hard, but worth the trouble


Thom Yorke - Radiohead frontman that went solo, his work is technically classified as "indietronica" (what a stupid name) but it's really worth checking out.


And, when talking indie music, how is it possible to leave out...
Mogwai - they need no introduction...

That Thermals video is one of my favorite music videos, ever. So good. The song is brilliant as well.

Oh yes, the Decemberists, but the Crane Wife doesn't really count in my mind as indie because it is on a major label.
However, they are one of the greatest bands around right now and one can truly listen to their albums over and over again, finding something new nearly each time.

I'm getting bored with the Decemberists now.
