Common sense removed due being Disruptive.
Gentlemen,I want to inform you that there is a CTD impeding me for weeks regarding with the map and thus the very reason of why the release of v1.5 is taking so long,It occured when I attempted to port the map from my personal mod,to CAE v1.5.Once that CTD is taken care of the progress will continue. That was indeed an unfortunate thing.
Shine on you crazy diamond...
Hi, Zeph,
Sorry for asking this. I'm a newbie here..
Just wanted to ask if CAE v1.4 is the latest version out right now? I've been playing it for sometime now. but I've noticed in some posts that there is a newer version > CAE v1.4 b or CAE v1.4 c but I can't seem to find a any links aside from v.1.4. Will be very pleased if you could provide a link for me. Thanks a lot!!
BTW, very much enjoying this GREAT mod.. Best mod i've played!

Zeph, great mod, no doubts at all. Got a question, your avatar looks like Glukoza, do you know her?
1172, as the Kingdom of Jerusalem ...
I have destroyed the Mamluks, and am at war with the Turks, being allied with Byzantium. The Pope is one of my own. You should see what happens when dismounted Kinghts Hospitallers engage Saracen militias!
Not pretty at all ... for the Saracens, that is!
The mod crashes frequently though, one of the best mods ever played by me and it irritates me a lot when it does that. I downloaded and installed it 2 days ago, 1.4 version, should I download anything else, like any bugfixer or something?
That's strange. I've been playing this mod since if first came out, with different factions, and I've only had one CTD. Yet, many other players have reported numerous crashes.
Note that I haven't done anything special, whatsoever. No bugfixers, or anything else like that.
Im sorry but I really think the Kingdom of Jerusalem is a bit too strong. Im playing the Ottoman Empire and I was doing so swell, I had all of Turkey, most provinces from Edessa to Medina, then these guys all handy and dandy decided to wage war on me, no reason at all, they just felt like it. And about 10-20 turns later, Ive lost 6 cities to them and there'll be plenty more. Theyve gotten from Adana, taken everything south and east of it, taken Caesarea, also taken everything east of it, and now theyre besieging Yerevan and that other town. Ive had a 700 man army with a 4 star general lose to 300 man army with no general. How is that possible? I didnt use peasants, mainly Mercs, Sipahi and Turkish Javelinman. They had 2 Spear Milita, Dismounted Feudal Knights and Crusaders. Is there something wrong with my game? Its really really really annoying me. Ive gotten into fits of rage over it. Im thinking of resolving to cheating just to get rid of them (but no one else, I dont like cheating).
Help![]()
First, did you fight the battles on the battlemap? It's been my experience that the best general in Europe is "you".
The dismounted feudal knights and crusaders were extremely powerful in real life ... no matter what The Kingdom of Heaven shows ... and closing with them can be hazardous to your health. The Sipahi and Javelinmen were on "skirmish", weren't they? I've noticed that ... of all the Muslim units that I hate as the KoJ ... the Sipahis give me more grief and casualties than any other.
In the scenario you gave above, the KoJ had no missile units. In such a situation, I would pick the best terrain possible, and hit them with missiles until I was out. Then, I would pick a militia unit, and hit it with everything that I have, until it routs. Get them routing, and it will start a flood, usually.
The only other question that I have is difficulty settings. I play Hard/Medium, as I regard it to be the most realistic setting for the Campaign Map/Battle Map (on Rome, I regarded VH/M to be the most realistic). If you're playing the game as and combination of Hard or Very Hard, on the campaign map, or Very Hard on the Battle Map, you're actually cheating in favor of the AI.
On VH setting on the battlemap, I've had peasants and militia rout one of my armies, consisting of knights, archers, and pikemen. That simply shouldn't be.
I auto resolved most battles, I had lots of good generals, an average/common general had 4 starsYes, they were on skirmish. I have no idea what it does, so I just didnt touch it.
Im playing M/M. The Mongols have just arrived and theyre helping them. I dont think theres much hope left, I havent loaded since the Mongols, one turn after my previous post. I'll probably just delete the file if stuff keeps going wrong for meThanks for your help regardless

You're quite welcome for the help.![]()
Fight every battle on the battlemap. Never, ever autoresolve. Autoresolution causes many problems, not the least of which is losing generals, or having them gain bad traits.
Try a battle against the Mongols of the KoJ on the battlemap, and see what happens! Also, make sure that your armies always have four missile units. Very often, I'll kill 10% of an enemy army before the lines ever clash.
To be honest, CAE is best mod for me, it doesn't take hours each turn to change and doesn't have fantastic units and strange things, it looks more of a perfected vanilla than a fantasy mod, and I like that a lot. Once again, thanks zeph, nice work.
there was some battle south of Jerusalem near Ascalon where a handful of knights templar and crusaders went up against a much larger force of 20,000 Arabs under Saladin and won, so it is historically accurate to have the crusaders very strong, but with a small amount of units.
old avatar , yes !
Is there a pdf or file somwhere in-game that can be looked at for unit stats for CAE for all factions?
