    Default 6.3 Update Released!

    Hello,

    I have uploaded the Download link for SPQR 6.3 update. You will need to have SPQR 6.2 Full install in order to use the update. The update file size is 4.53Mb.

    I hope you enjoy the changes as much as I do. Please leave opinions and feedback, and remember to play on M/M when playing a new update for the first time. Otherwise feedback will be meaningless.

    hi lt must say you hav done a great job with 6.3 love the new archer fix have only played for a lil bit but is very good so far

    I need someone to upload this small File on Filefront, when I do it I get a corrupted download from them, sheesh. Can you or someone else upload this small Patch on Filefront?

    I also need the Full version of 6.2 uploaded, but that would take a fast upload speed which I DONT have.

    i hav begun uploading both to filefront will take about 3 hours tho...

    i also found that i now lose more men in a battle used to be about 15% on average and my first battle with 6.3 was 26% against the Gaul army that goes for Genua at the start of a campaign lol

    YAY!!!

    I just tossed 100,000 denarii to get the imperial barracks in 15 cities all at once. Now the withered republican legionaries are on the treck home from spain to get their new equipment and be redeployed. Some of the legions are down to a few hundred legionaries while the rest are mercenaries and auxiliaries.

    The first thing I noticed of course is the numbers on the legionary unit cards which is going to be extremely helpful. Now to get even more detailed... we could have each legion have a special 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th cohort. Each with different stats to reflect reality where certain cohorts were always made up of the different levels of age and experience... J/K!!!!!!!

    it is not more possible to retreinar legions it are of its city of origin, I am certain?

    Great news! Ive been putting off a campaign waiting for this for a while now... other mods just dont compare!

    Why not used megaupload, its free and fast. Nice work with 6.3. Saved games from 6.2 dont work with 6.3 though right?

    I am playing my 6.2 game with 6.3 no problems so far. Though I dont know exactly which changes wont take effect from this. And no you wont be able to retrain legionaries from 6.2 except for first cohorts which havent changed.

    What did you do to make the battles twice as long? Did you have everyone 2 hitpoints? I dont have a ton of time to play and I want to change the battle speed back to how it was before so I can actually progress through this campaign..

    Guess u have to stick to 6.2 or go to C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data and open up the export_decr_unit.txt and change (for all infantry units) where it says stat_health from 2, 0 to 1, 0

    Have not tested it so not 100 percent sure it will work.

    True, old legionary units cant be retrained from saved games, but Knowing where the legions come from help, its something I should have done a while back. Its a pain trying to remember what comes from where. Epecially with the changes to Cohorts! So this should help people Play the mod the way it was meant and recruit full legions from one area and not replenish it all the time, I suppliment with more and more auxilia units when Legionaries dwindle. Key in SPQR is not to throw your legionaries away, let the auxilia take the hits, this allows you to lessen the losses of Legionaries.

    Plus use the tally sheet for loses on your campaigns, it makes the war FEEL more real, biggest mistake on RTW is the lack of battlefield loses total for your game, they only go with battles won and lost. Many other mods give details. Its bad enough there is NO GRAIN costs in RTW! :-(

    Let me know how you like the Archers now in SPQR, and the battle lengths, also the improvement with Cavalry! They can hold their line a little more a delay an enemy long enough and survive long enough for infantry to arrive! ;-)

    SPQR 6.3 ROCKS!

    I'm playing a new 6.3 roman campaing in M/M.

    The initial Gaul armies in the north are tougher than in 6.2 thanks to the strenghtened cavalry. My initial legions have suffered far more losses than before thanks to that.

    Cavalry suffer less losses than before when fighting infantry and skirmishers, and have a bit more punch too. Great. Now mercenary cavalry is worth its horses in gold!

    I have not tried or seen the archers in combat yet, but I'm sure that in my soon to happen approach to Cisalpine Gaul they will be there, waiting to take care of my poorly armoured hastati.

    Battle lenght has been increased more than a bit, but I don't see it dramatic. I like it. Much needed time to maneovre, to finnish the enemy cavalry and lights in the flanks and return in time? to crack the enemy line from behind!

    Well, eagerly waiting to see how the Macs behave now...

    i agree with miki the new cavalry fixes mean that you can use them in a way that you can depend upon them achieving something in a battle not jus running away after a scrap with some skirmishers...

    the best effects i hav seen was a rear charge of a unit of equites (full-strength two-ranks) slam into the rear of two units of Gallic Swordsmen, a unit of chosen swordsmen and a unit of warband killing about 70 gauls and routing all 4 units (they were already engaged) so love the new fixes lt

    ps what is the "navigator bug" that you fixed in this release?? i dont understand what a "navigator bug" is....

    I wouldnt do that, lol there are several other changes besides that to fix the Archer issue. The longer Battles was a slight side effect and NOT the reason for those changes. if you change what you say you will have Vanilla style battles or pretty close to it.

    hehehe, funny.............. I've found a quite similar solution (months ago) that will be in the ATW 0.7 Patch :hmmm:
