Tired of the Macedonian Horde

Hi gents,

I'm eagerly waiting for SPQR 6.3. I hope the Macedonian horde will then be tonned down a bit, as that nation loves to send countless full stacks against my legions, again and again, endlessly... and I finally get bored of it and quit playing the campaign as those psichotic attacks have no sense at all.

Well, I quit playing for a bit, it's true, but to shortly begin another campaign trying to focuse Roman interests in the west and south, praying for going unnoticed by Macedon!

It's only me or have you ever noticed that Mac Horde syndrome?

lol its true, macedon really love throwing full stacks of gold chevron troops at rome ceasefires and alliances with them are very short lived THank god they dont use naval invasions against mailand italy cos i never hav troops there (or anywhere near there tbh)

However although their armies are annoying they are easy to deal with as long as you hav some decent merc cavalry to rout engaged phalanxes . My real headache at present is germania, im right up in Locus_Dani and hav little reinforcements for my pre-marians which hav been whittled constantly by stacks and stacks of gothic axemen with gold chevrons and their noble archers

Check out the post LT made about SPQR 6.3......he said the Macs are going to be toned down a bit, units will cost more, so less stacks.

yeah, I had to fight off gaul, germania and macedon at the same time. Now they belong to the history pages.

I never ever get to fight Macedon they are always wiped out by those mad axe wielding Germans, and pointy headed Greeks.

Well i was playing as the Greeks and i wiped out macedon after like 15 turns. I must admit i haven't played a second campaign as Rome though. Right now im saved at a point where my full stack Spartan warriors are about to get owned by the Roman senate armies. I really need to get around to that sometime....

You cant use the defense/ATTACK stats ingame, ingame stats dont TELL the truth of the different settings that make the cavalry or infantry more powerful. They are just there to give a player the Idea, never go by them because they are limited.

Yes Macedon is toned down a LITTLE its almost impossible to tone them down to normal levels due to the fact they have TOO much money. lol Choke they're RICH cities and they will STOP sending men. Plus DONT play on Hard of VH as they AI gets money bonuses!

Just a thought, but could Macedon have a fewer provinces in the new version? This might tone down thier armies a bit as they wont have so many money generating cities particurarly thier cities in the Balkans. Historicly, Macedon did NOT controle territory that far noth and even the Romans took FOREVER to gain full controle of that area. If that area could be given to the Dacians or even just some Rebel forces, it should be able to keep Macedon more or less in balance with the rest of the factions.

I've also had to face down army after army of Macedonians, it's one thing to have a challenge, it's quite another when you've killed off 50,000+ enemies just to see they have another three or four armies getting ready to cross your border.
