I think it is a good if the four nations of the Malayan archipelago unite. I mean the countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines We could make a strong united country. There will also be no problem with Moslems and Catholics. Since Malaysians and Indonesians are moderate Moslems. We also share a near common language and culture. In addition, we will be a regional power in south East Asia.

I just want to hear your guys opinion on my idea.

Many groups want independence from Indonesia already.
But a decentralized, loose union could work.

It would be great if they could all cooperate more closely to fight piracy.

Man, Malayan Union would be a really great organization. However, I do not think Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei are gonna like the idea because they are already prosperous.

Only in Aceh, the region that was hit by tsunami. And the fact is most Indonesians do not want Saudi-like Sharia Law except uneducated Indonesians in rural areas who have been brainwashed by their local clerics.

Its because Indonesia has bad economy. If Indonesia was rich like Malaysia everyone would be happy.

I don't think Singapore would like it. It's a prosperous free trade country; it doesn't need some bizarre allegiance with protectionist states.

Singapore= very modern, first world nation. Malaysia and Indonesia= nothing alike, third world nations. Malaysia has an economy, Indonesia really doesn't. It would work great for Indonesia, but not so much for the other two nations, and especially not Singapore.

Yes, but that is only a problem if you are into breaking the very reasonable laws. At least you are guaranteed a legitimate trial, unlike some other places.

Meh, it might be unfair by American or European standards...actually, it is unfair by European or American standards, but it works for them. City State's tend to have unique law systems that work in the City State. Imagine all the crazy laws New York would have if it was it's own nation.

But remember, the law system of Singapore is still far better than any of the other nations listed above.

I think there can be certain laws for some areas like the Philippines could retain its very reasonable laws. And i think malaysia, Brunie and singapore could do something help indonesia and the philippines catch up. I think the starting 2-4 years wont be so good but i think after those years evreything will be smooth sailing im thinking more of something like a little bit more centrelaized EU. Lots of filipino like the idea of a common nation with our brothers and sisters. In tagalog it will be called something like Estados Unidos malaya i dont know what will it be called in the other languages.

I fully agree with you man. In addition in my opinion the Union should be like that of European Union which puts certain requirements for any countries to join. I believe religious tolerance and human rights violation free should be a couple of the main requirements.

Well a merge of all Malayan countries into one state is of course unrealistic. Even a Union of Spain and France will not work out.

But Spain and France is loosely united via the EU but i dont think that that type of model would work in Malaysia/Philippines and others.

What about including Australia or are we talking about a sort of super far east Muslim state. Clearly that would not work.
