    Default Center of Learning

Sorry for the obvious question, but

    A) Is the "Center of Learning" building from the original game, or is it a new building, specific to this mod? I never encountered it in Vanilla. The description also seems pretty sparse, so that kinda hints at a new building.

B)What, specifically does it do? Now, this really is a dumb question. Reading the description, it says it is capable of upgrading missile and seige weapons.. but how does it do this? Do you need to train the unit in the city first? Or can any unit pop into a city and "retrain".

Just a little clarification would be much appreciated.

I´m not sure about if it is vanilla or not I can only let you know that what it does is upgrade in the same way smiths do with unit defence "shield" symbol but center of learning upgrades attack "sword" symbol

It's a building that was pretty useless in vanilla.

I renamed it and gave it the weapon upgrade capability for missile units and siege units.

I guess I should give it a better description.

Maybe it would be better to give trait upgrades to agents and characters instead? (since its a center of learning, not a war center)

It gives excellent ancillaries to units in the city, like alchemist, brilliant scribe, merchant clerk (to merchants trained there), counterfeiter (also merchant), and others. It also seems to give/improve the Intelligent trait line over time, as well as the GoodAdministrator trait line. Ancillaries seem to differ by faction, also. Venice also got magicians (as in James Randi, not Yuri Geller.)

It is, however, bugged on upgrades of ranged weapons. It simply upgrades the melee attack of units with ranged attacks. Yea, so your archers get batter melee. That probably needs a fix.

As to whether it should do military things at all, that's up to tornnight. Places of higher learning always had military application in ancient times, so at least the siege equipment upgrades seem alright to me. And as for ranged, heck, why not? Once it's working properly, it won't be too much of a oversight of history. After all, we still are playing a game. I'm not down with the total-total realism folks. I just want a good, challenging, engrossing game with challenging Ii and some semblance of respect for history.
