    Default Instant Training of Units

First of all I really want to say GREAT MOD!

Anyway, my only complaint is the instant recruitment of units. Is there a way I can change it back so that they aren't recruited instantly? i.e. going through the txt documents. If anyone knows that'd be great, if not, I'll continue playing the mod anyway.

What's wrong with recruiting them instantly?

You'll learn to love it. I would not recommend changing the recruitment as it tends to send SPQR out of sync. The AI also does not behave nearly as well.

Alright, as I said I'll be willing to work with it for a while, but if I still don't like it then I'll come back here asking how to change it.

I personally enjoy the "instant" recruitment because of the epic battles however each to their own and so this is how u can change it.

Open your RTW/SPQR file (something like C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War) then go into Data>export_descr_units which is a .txt file at the vottom of the selection.
    edit this line: stat_cost eg.

    type barb peasant dacian
    dictionary barb_peasant_dacian ; Barbarian Peasants
    category infantry
    class light
    voice_type Light_1
    soldier barb_peasant, 60, 0, 0.7
    attributes sea_faring, hide_improved_forest
    formation 1.2, 1.8, 2.4, 2.4, 6, horde
    stat_health 1, 0
    stat_pri 1, 0, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, knife, 25 ,1
    stat_pri_attr no
    stat_sec 0, 0, no, 0, 0, no, no, no, none, 25 ,1
    stat_sec_attr no
    stat_pri_armour 3, 1, 0, leather
    stat_sec_armour 0, 0, flesh
    stat_heat 2
    stat_ground 2, -2, 3, 2
    stat_mental 0, low, untrained
    stat_charge_dist 30
    stat_fire_delay 0
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 0, 150, 100, 20, 30, 150
    ownership dacia

the red number indicated is the time taken to recruit the unit in a campaign game with 0 as current and 1 is a single turn in gameplay hope this helps!

Alright, thanks man. I'm going to keep using the instant recruitment, I have gotten the hang of it a little better since I first posted. However, I'll keep a not of this because I have a friend who really doesn't like instant training and just in case I want to change it I'll know what to do.

Are you sure it's right? It looks like only change the dacian.

You go and do this to every unit in export_descr_units folder, it takes awhile, but if you want 1 or 0 turn recruitment you need to do it too all units

I am glad you are willing to give it a try. Taking it out removes a whole dynamic in SPQR. Stick with it and you will learn to love it.

Frankly, I have a hard time playing other mods (not mentioning SPQR's other great qwirks) because of the lack of 0 turn recruitment.

if you want the huge, epic battles which distinguish SPQR from all the rest, you must keep 0-turn recruitment. all other mods' battles are mostly just "skirmishes" compared to a typical SPQR engagement.

The reason why I don't like 0_turn recruitement is that it is too easy to recruite the full stack army and no need to survive the maniples thru the battle.

if you can do it, then so can the enemy, and hoo boy when the gauls come at you with a dozen stacks of silver chevron units

AI wouldnt be able to handle it nor the game mechanics. The mod in entirety is designed for the 0-turn recruitment. Check the LT´s notes about it. It just does not work.

    Sounds to tedious

I would just play it how LT made it. I think it adds more fun and realism.

you got lucky, i was bored so here you are - 1 turn recruitment, this is for use with the unit addon open beta however, if your not using it (and you should be) then this won't work
