Why do you play IBFD?

Why oh why???

I play it becuase this is best mod right now for Late antiquity. This is for me most beloved time in history. Restoring Roman empire is hard task - thats why i love it

I can play as a Roman state, or a Barbarian state with Roman troops, and create a successor Kingdom along the lines of history, and create a nation with a Roman populace and..some other culture overlords (My Hispania as the Visigoths is doing rather well)

Mostly because I enjoy trying to salvage a dying empire. Starting with the city that is your namesake being sacked, in the midst of a civil war, and all your most valuable assets in Iberia and Africa under attack... So much fun to be had. Let's not forget the treasury being all but liquidated. Haven't gotten around to playing the barbarians yet though.

Because i can play my beloved ancestors Slavs! Elite berserkers Volkodlaki are my personal favorite. They are able to rip into pieces Huns or even Romans! but thats a hard task and that makes me satisfied. I love hard gameplay
I like a low cost warriors for each faction also! Recruiting peasants with upkeep of militias in vanilla drives me crazy!

Why I play this mod, besides it being the most interesting period in history with all the races on the move and clasing with eachother to find fertile land, added to that the birth of christianity wich formed our current western civilisation..., I don't have upgraded my pc jet to play MTW2 with everything on the highest setting like i do with RTW.

Well, getting it on the front page of TWC sure got my attention... I'm looking at this mod right now, trying to determine if its for me... I didn't like Vanilla BI enough to even play it, but I'll need a break from Mtw2 soon, and if this mod is as good as advertised, you might see me posting in these forums in the next few weeks...

Becouse it pictures the spirit of time well; Rome vanished becouse the Romans were to busy fighting each over to even notice the outside threat, I was countless times backstabed while playing roman one or another fraction by my "alies" any time I moved my legions to defend the limes the ungratfull bastards invaded me. The Rome from IBFD is far away from vanila or ceasar series "rome seen by americans" crap. Old Rome in all her glorius ultra brutality and cultural supremacism is somewhat relaxing compared to today decadent and PC west.

well, i play it because: there is that feel of uncertainty, expecially playing with the western romans... you really feel sieged from everywhere... and because i like that "Decadence" period so much, it is so "decadent" lol, so my preferred faction is WRE. You know that poetry from P. Verlaine that starts:

"Im the Empire at the end of the Decadence that is looking those big white barbarians to pass our frontiers, while composing tired and empty Acrostics..."
