    Default Hints and Tips Please!

Hi all, just registered on these forums because I'm looking for some help. I've been playing RTR Gold for a few months and decided to download the RTR Platinum and install it over BI to see if there was much difference in the A.I ,as I always prefer a game to be a challenge, wheres the fun in beating something thats absolute crap. Anyway, started a game and straight away I was invaded by Carthage, Illyria and Greece which I really wasn't prepared for. Managed to fight them off and take Paestum and Corfinium and just about holding them off, but don't have enough money or armies to attack, conquer and do what romans do best. Well I guest I've got the challege I wanted but was wondering if any of you veterans of RTR P had and hints or tips to help me out. If there are any guides already can someone point me in the right direction. Cheers for any help.

    He's playing as the Romans....

    Anyway, my advice:
NEVER EVER attack an enemy field army unless you have to (they're besieging one of your cities and it can't hold them off, or it's a Rebel army). Instead, go straight for their cities. That's where they're building them. Besiege their cities with a large army, and wait them out. Unless they don't care, or don't have the manpower, they will send an army to try and stop you. Maybe more than one. It's not to big a stretch I've found to crush them. Defeat the defending/attacking armies, and kill 2+ birds with one stone. (you destroy the relief army[s], plus the garrison force, leaving the city undefended and saving you from a lame siege battle). Use the conquering army as a garrison until you've rebuilt it, at which point you move cheap units into the city as garrison and move your army on the the next enemy city.

Why is it that at least one of the Romans are wusses?
