    Default Are traits hereditary?

Are traits hereditary? Like for example if the father is smart does he have smart kids? Are there special circumstances when certain traits are acquired when coming of age? I ask because im not 100% sure. My king is intelligent but none of his kids are. Yet my youngest has the dread father trait and when i reloaded and moved my cardinal to were his father is, he came of age with the religiously proper trait. Is this just a coincidence or not?

There are more triggers, and circumstances to these things than can put into just one post. I think the final thing you mentioned might not be a complete coincidence but alot of it is % chance. Yet, many of these % chance's are trigger driven, so, without having some type of document laying out all the aspects of the traits (triggers and %chances) and what-not, this is as much as I can figure on it.

    Hereditary? Yes.
    Random? Yes.

I see. What about when my princess marries a general? Do the kids still count as part of the royal family or are they like the kids of an adopted general?

They should have the "royal ties" trait, so yes, they are of the royal family! Or was it "royal blood"? royal something anyway!

if they are related to the main dynasty along the male line then they get the of xxx blood trait and it has some bonus like loyalty or something. If its along the female line then they get an of xxx relations trait which doesnt usually have a bonus. Princesses will get the of blood traits but not the of relations so only a princess of royal blood will pass that on to the kids in the form of an of relations trait, but fathers with the traits will pass both down in the same form that the father had them.
