I was thinking that there could be some way to implement a similar manner of conquest to that of Cyrus, as Cyrus did not have to fight endless armies and conquer all cities of an empire (seeing as the AI never wants a ceasefire), but rather only appeared to have to conquer the capital or at least chief cities of a certain empire and proclaim himself the successor of the previous ruler, after which the rest of the empire fell into his hands. Perhaps, for example, a trigger for the destruction of the Babylonian faction could be the capture of Babylon (or Babylon and one or two chief cities), although I am unsure as to whether factions can be destroyed via script. If not, is it possible to give all provinces owned by the faction (or at least assign specific provinces that the faction would be most likely to have) to the rebels (or more preferably the conquering faction, but this is probably more difficult)? Another trigger could be a "Grant (Babylonian/Median/Egyptian/Lydian) Kingship" building (only constructible in the capital), which would take a number of turns to build and would thus mean that you would have to hold the city for a certain number of turns while it is being constructed. I'm not sure how plausible any of these ideas are, but if one is possible it would make both conquests and wars in general more realistic, putting an end to the mindlessly aggressive AI, and reflecting the true manner of Cyrus' conquests.
