well, you'll also need a motherboard, processor, ram, power supply, DVD-rom, and preferably some kind of case to hold it all together...ok, I'm not trying to make fun of you, but you are going to have to specify the rest of your system specs for anyone to properly answer that question.

Also, when you say "resolution on Best" what resolution do you mean? Because if you "best" resolution is very high, like 1600*1050 or higher, then you might want to consider the 640mb version...

Without knowing the rest of your system, I assure you that 320 MB will be the bottleneck of that card - an 8800 chip is not to be wasted on such a lack of ram IMHO.

The amount of ram in this card compared to the 640mb version of the GTS makes virtually no difference in performance, except at high resolutions *1600*1200 and up.

thats what I have come to understand as well. Ill spend $300on a vid card but $500 is just crazy.

I disagree - when it comes to high resolution textures such as Quarls for Oblivion, 320 MB is clearly not enough. As hi-res textures are becoming more common - especially with DX 10, which the GPU is made for I'd recommend more vram unless you want to play games at lowered settings...

    Qarl's textures use 600+ vram...
and that is some superb awesome quality. That'll probably be mainstream textures in a year or 2.

the 640 mb is a good investment if you plan to change your monitor & plan to play games that'll umm.. look 10x better with higher res textures in the near future.

Choose the 'Vesta Overclocker Edition' and then customize it from there. You will save 220 by downgrading the VC to the 320 8800 gts. Another 113 can be saved by going for the 250 seagate (2nd option). Bag the mouse and keyboard and your down to 1622, mail-in-rebate further gets you down to 1587.

Now that's over your budget, but it's extremely overclockable and worth it IMO.

Buying for two years down the road is hardly ever a good investment in computer hardware because prices are cut by 50% every 18 months.

And 320MB will be enough to play every game that will come out in the next 4 years or so on medium image quality.
So whether it's worth the investment really depends on how much money you are willing to spend to play the same games at higher settings.
