Well I have recently read The Stranger, and the book brings up interesting questions in my mind about existenilialist thought. BTW sorry if I mispelled it, it is a hard word to spell out. So, have any of my esteemed TWC colleagues read The Stranger or other works by Camus, and if you have, do you have any opinions on existeniliasm?

Sure I know what it is. Though it's been ages since I read The Outsider and as it is now 2.30AM, I doubt I can give you a proper opinion at the moment. Instead I shall reserve this space for when I am not so tired.

I've tried to read a few Camus books, and couldn't make it through.

Read them under the influence of a substance which alters your mental/psychological state.

Yes, I've read it. A long time ago, I think I probably liked it.

For me, the king of the existentialists is Sartre, although he has an unnecessarily bleak view of our absurd plight. It may be absurd, but that is not strictly speaking a good or bad thing.

I can say no more, because this isn't the philosophy forum.

    Theres a philosophy forum?

Anyways I always feel that looking at current political situations and such can leave one so frustrated and if you always sit back and just think about it in a existentialist way it is more calming. The nonchalant attitude is what I like about existentialists.

The Stranger is alot easier to get through. It is presented as a novel, a good one at that, and it really does get across Camus's philosophy.
