Calling of a crusade can only be initially delayed.
Calling of a jihaad can be influenced by setting the minimum piety level of an imam
Other then that you can only edit the relevant text.
what file should i edit to change jihad and crusade ?
Maybe I am the fire that burn you, but my light will drive way the shadow that haunted the road that you take
I am afraid I can't give the exact names of the files and movies as I am not at my machine, but if memory serves then the text will be in the data\text folder: the files have event in the name (not historic_events), one for the body text and one for the title. Search inside them for crusade and jihad.
The movie names should be self explanatory, I think they are in the fmv\events folder
Maybe I am the fire that burn you, but my light will drive way the shadow that haunted the road that you take
Pictures are linked to an event through their name, they are located in a sub folder of data\ui and only one picture will ever be used for the same event.
You will have to solve your problem by repeating your script for multiple events, eg use the same HE for multiple events. If you intend to use different text then you are out of options.
Could you give more details like a script sample and summary of the conditions that need to be met to trigger the HE?
Thanks, Gigantus. I just wanted save the space - I've got multiple simple information windows, they're not in the script but simply in the descr_events.
So actually you can save the space if you use the movie file (.bik) as it can be used by many entries in the descr_events and script, but for the pics you need to have one-per-one?

If you want to play a historical mod in the medieval setting the best are:
Stainless Steel Historical Improvement Project and Broken Crescent.
Recently, Tsardoms and TGC look also very good. Read my opinions on the other mods here.

If you don't create an image matching the name of your HE then the game will show the one named "historic_event.tga" by default. The reading monk one.
So what you could do is replace that "historic_event.tga" with the image you want to use for all of those HEs you're talking about, and don't create images for them. Of course that means that ANY HE which does not have an image (e.g. by mistake, or intentionally so that it shows the monk) will now show your custom made "historic_event.tga" instead.
Thanks, guys, that's clear to me now! I actually like that reading monk and it's quite atmospheric for the information windows ;-)
Summing up:
- if you want to use the same pic for several events, you have to copy the same pic several times and name it after the event,
- you may replace the default pic "historic_event.tga" but it will be shown for any event without pic attached,
- you may use one movie file (.bik) for many events.
Is it possible to make the historic even visible to only certain factions?
eg.:
[code] monitor_event GeneralCaptureSettlement SettlementName Lubeck
and FactionReligion catholic
and FactionType poland
change_settlement_name Lubeck Lubeka
if not IsFactionAIControlled
historic_event SETTLEMENT_NAME_CHANGE { hre, denmark, poland, }
end_if
end_monitor
[/QUOTE]
Thanks, Gig!
do you happen to know if it's possible to use also cultures and religions?
- historic_event SETTLEMENT_NAME_CHANGE { catholic, }
- historic_event SETTLEMENT_NAME_CHANGE { middle_eastern, }
I gave it a spin as I never tried it before and got the following: regardless if it was the religion of the faction I was playing I ended up with the historic event in a movie window. Nothing in the log.
Same with cultures. It would seem that the game interprets non faction entries as a prelude to the movie 'add on' of the code and hence uses the movie display style, example for full code:Code:historic_event [event name] factions { [faction name], } [fmv directory]\[movie name].bik
Regarding descr_events;
event historic ENGLISH_ARCHERS
date 50 70
Does the 50 70 mean that the event can take place between 50 & 70, or does it mean that the the event will be limited (in this case English Archers) between 50 & 70. So they are only available between 50 and 70. After 70 it stops.
Thanks.
Sig made by me, content from Broken Crescent.
It means it will happen at random date between 50 and 70 (and will be true forevermore)
For some reason, the event doesn't show up until the second turn, even when I put it at turn 1. Is this just how it works, or am I doing something wrong?
