well I love RTRPE so far its my favorite mod, and I've also noticed that out of all the other mods it runs the best so i was wondering why some mods run slower then others, would this mod be slower running then RTRPE how would i tell? and also i was wondering for those who have played RTRPE and SPQR which is better and why? thanx for you help

Well, i played RTRPE for a while cause i don`t wanted to start a new campaign since SPQR 6.3 is out.
I played RTR Gold a few months ago too.
RTRPE is a very good mod, maybe the best i ever tried ( better than EB, older RTR Versions, BBW, ITW...)
    But now i prefer SPQR:
    - more epic battles ( not half full enemy armies, there are full enemy armies )
    - Battle style is the best i ever saw. The battle last twice as long as normal battles, so you have time to use tactics and so on. And its even more realistic than a short 5 minute battle.
    - Many little things in campaign, like certain legions, roleplay style for characters and so on.

So if you like long battles with many many soldiers ( round 10.000 ) you will like SPQR cause you`ll find no other mod with that battle style afaik...

does RTR still use that system of different barracks for each culture? i think that's the cause of the small AI armies, right? the AI won't care to build its own barracks because one already exists in any town they conquer, even though they can't recruit any units from it.

Yes that system is still used...
The armies in RTRE are still big, compared to certain other mods. Most of them are 3/4 full.
Ok.. compared to SPQR that's nothing

24gamer thank you very much for your insight on comparing the other mods to SPQR...i was just about to post a similiar question as a new thread about SPQR as opposed to EB...well i think you answered that question in your above comments, oh and for you tai4ji2x, i have never downloaded another RTW mod because i am so fascinated w/ the degree of difficulty, strategy, and sheer scale of the battles...this is HOW rome and medieval should have been released...thx, hannibeau

I heard somewhere that text-files (like the many additional traits etc in EB and complex scripts in other mods) contribute massively to slow-down on the campaign map & in loading times.

I am sure EB has way more additional traits and triggers than RTRPE, and have always assumed this was the cause.

If this is true (someone may enlighten me) then you could check out the quantity of text-file/script additions to a mod before deciding to download it if you hate the slow-down.
