    Default A look at Hotseat mode in leaked v1.2

    My significant other and I have tried to get a campaign going on hotseat. We successfully loaded a Venetian-Polish campaign just copy pasting the old multilayer setting unto the 1.2 preferences, but found to our dismay we could only auto resolve battles, sieges, etc, where as before in 1.1 we could always fight the battles we initiated. Does anyone know how to get hotseat mode to let us play battles against the cpu that we start a la the old 1.1? We tried

    autoresolve_battles = 0

    and got no where.

    Please do not double posts it's only been 11 minutes since your first post.

    They pulled the improved hotseat mode from 1.2, it's not in the patch.

    Test using hot seat and you'll see its there. I think they pulled the old hot seat and replaced it with this new crappier version.

    can you please look at your preference file? and thank in advance for at least attempting to be helpful, as opposed to just a CA talking mouth.

    Lusted, I for one appreceate all the work you do for the community here, but I think he's merely asking why the mode was downgraded and can it be fixed, not why an improved version wasn't released. I'm interested in this also. I haven't tried hotseat but plan to in the near future.

    Hey! I had the same issue, and i have a solutipn! Copy this:

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 1
    disable_papal_elections = 0
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 0
    validate_diplomacy = 1

    This works. The issue, that you cant defend yourself if attacked, remains...

    The hotseat mode is not in 1.2 because CA had a deadline to make and CA still had work to do on the hotseat mode which would have caused a significant patch delay so they decided to include it at a later date.

    The coding that Salty posted is to be placed in the medieval2.preference.cfg file, I believe. It's inside the Medieval 2 Total War main directory. Hope this helps!

    playable = true"

    The Hotseat is there, but the [multiplayer] option no .....

    And after, do i need to do anything to start a MP Hot Seat campaign? How do i do that? Can anyone tell me plz?

    Thanks...

    You Have to add it! Just copy and paste my lines, then it will work as in 1.1\1.0....makes fun, cant wait to play final version of hotseat And yes, you have to edit medieval2.preferences.cfg in the Main Medieval folder.

    And to start: Just choose new Campaign. There you can choose more than one nation to play. For example just klick on Englang and France. When you are ready with your turn, the other player does his turn. If YOU attack, you can play battles. if you are getting attacked, while the AI interacts, you CAN NOT play the battles. They always get autoresulted. But its a lot of fun to play with your brother\friend.

    Doesnt hotseat have the major flaw that you cant fight each other?
    In the days of lace-ruffles, perukes, and brocade
    Brown Bess was a partner whom none could despise -
    An out-spoken, flinty-lipped, brazen-faced jade,
    With a habit of looking men straight in the eyes -
    At Blenheim and Ramillies, fops would confess
    They were pierced to the heart by the charms of Brown Bess.

    Have a stupid question - I was thinking of doing an AAR about the clash of Turkey versus Spain, and I wanted to create a hotseat battle so I can micromanage both empires. Now, when it comes down for the showdown I want to revert control of Turkey back to the computer. Can I do this - start a hotseat game, save it after the first 100 turns or so, then turn off hotseat?
