Ahhh, that last three minutes was a tired unexperienced team trying to maintain a lead...plus Baron fouled out...plus the Mavs (as with any first place team) got every single wishy-washy foul call in the second half...

Even though I wanted the Warriors, that game was depressing.

Dirk, who in my opinion, deserves MVP, will probablly lose it due to this series and final game.

And second, that third quarter was just brutal. Gotta feel sorry for the Mavs after that.

He can't lose it due to this series, the votes are already in. And according to most sports writers, he is a lock.

The MVP is about regular season ONLY. The Finals MVP is for the best post season performer.

But votes are cast during the playoffs and its accepted that a terrible terrible first round can turn a lot of votes away. While an amazing first round can bring some in. Steve Nash anyone?

No, screw Steve Nash, he is overrated and is made by his system, not vice versa.

If voters can't follow directions about what they are supposed to cast votes for (they seem to have been confused the past couple of years anyway, 2 MVP's for nash? What were they thinking?), and think for some reason the first round of the playoffs have something to do with the regular season MVP, then they should have to vote before the playoffs start.

Ah, someones hating on Steve Nash. My I ask why? Jilted Mavs fan? Just look at his stats, not many players have been playing like him. And not many players have played like him when it comes to APG (only 3 other players in NBA history have been able to match him). Nash's stats this year are even better than last year, he had career highs in assists, points and and 3-point percentage.

Unbelievalbe!!!! The last time the Warriors made it past the first round I was 14 years old...WOOOHOOO!!!

Don Nelson is awesome, so glad he's back from retirement...

Dirk deserves the MVP for his regular season performance, for some reason the Warriors have their number.

This is all I have to say about the Mavs.

As much as I want to lolzors all over the place I can't. I feel for you Mavs fans, after all I sat through years and years of playoff disappointment with my Colts and my Pacers (Although the Pacers never choked like THAT). Well the Warriors are my favorites for the West's spot in the finals, I mean honestly they will at least et to the WCF, Houston and Utah are both way to slow to compete with them. Wouldn't it be funny if the Warriors beat Houston, then beat San Antonio in the WCF. Every single person in Texas would hate the Warriors lol.

EDIT: Dirk has been spotted fishing with Mike Vanderjact and Tony Romo . The reminds me, it must suck to be a Dallas sportsfan. Cowboys choke in the last minute, and the Mavs choke in the first round.

Yea it hurts. There's always next year....we've been far too long without a championship. I think the last one we had down here was the Stanley Cup, and that was in like, 99.

I'd love to see the Pistons just erase the Bulls again tonight.

Who saw Steve Nash's nose in game 1? That was nasty, and a killer for Phoenix because Nash couldn't get back on the floor. That guy has to be MVP, I mean Dirk Nowitzki's stock has dropped further than the stock market in 29', and it's obvious when he's not in Phoenix just can't get it together. Let's not forget this is the same Suns team that didn't make the playoffs if they don't have Nash, it's obvious Nash is the definition of Most Valuable Player.

This is a great post from a guy on another forum. He makes good arguments although I usually disagree with him about sports, but I'm right with him about the MVP issue.

There are eight teams remaining in the NBA playoffs. Of those teams lets evaluate their PG's.

If you were to swap Steve Nash with any of the following five PG's, neither team would show a marked improvement. They would all be slightly better at best.

    Baron Davis - GS
    Deron Williams - Utah
    Tony Parker - SA
    Chauncey Billups - DET
    Jason Kidd - NJ

Chicago would clearly improve by swapping Hinrich for Nash (although Hinrich is a pretty good PG himself).

Cleveland does not use a PG. They get away with this b/c their SG Larry Hughes has good ballhandling and Lebron James operates as a point-forward. They would vastly improve with Steve Nash particularly since they don't have a viable PG on the roster.

In summary, Nash is nearly interchangeable with 5 of the starting 7 PG's remaining in the playoffs and only a dramatic improvement for one team.

    Contrast this to Kobe Bryant.

Vince Carter - NJ Probably the closest any SG in the playoffs comes to comparing to Kobe. Vince still can't score at the same level Kobe can and his defense pales in comparison. NJ would improve with Kobe and would possibly be darkhorse contenders.

Sasha Pavlovic - Cle Cleveland goes from being EastConf contenders to EastConf champions and likely wins the NBA title.

Raja Bell - Phoe Phoenix wins the title hands down. They probably win 70+ regular season games.

Mike Finley - SA SA wins the title hands down. This team would be absolutely unbeatable in the 4th quarter between Duncan/Kobe. Potential to go 16-0 in the playoffs.

Gordon Giricek - Utah This guy blows. The one position Utah needs badly is SG. Kobe would make this team deadly and they'd likely win the title.

Rip Hamilton - Det Rip is every bit as clutch as Kobe but he's a little soft defensively and he doesn't have three point range. Kobe would make the Pistons an unbeatable team.

Ben Gordon - He's got the killer instinct and scoring ability but he's no Kobe yet. Demonstrates the most potential out of this group though. Chicago gets better but they probably don't win the title since they lack post scoring.

Jason Richardson - GS I chose J-Rich to represent GS at SG because he's a more conventional SG than Monta Ellis (who projects as a PG/SG combo). The Warriors are the one team that I don't think would become that much better athletically or necessairly need the scoring or perimeter defense (pietrus fills that role), but they could use Kobe's experience and clutch shooting. The Warriors likely get better but im not sure they win the title or anything.
I think this sums up my argument pretty well, although I think Nash is also much better than Deron Williams, so that's 2 teams that would get much better via a trade.

Of course if you swap in Kobe any team would win the title, and he truly is the most valuable player in the league, but we all know he is not going to get enough votes. People just don't like Kobe, from the allegations of ball hogging to the rape case, there are many Kobe haters out there. BTW Steve Nash is better than all of the PGs that would be swapped out, especially Deron Williams. Nash can shoot better, pass better, and makes better decisions than any of these PGs, and the only one that can compare to Nash is Jason Kidd.

Well, watching the Bulls fall apart is certainly not fun. I'm a Chicago fan but I could take the losses if they were at least good games to watch....

We'll get them in Oracle Arena. I'm going to game 4 so Woo Woo.

That loss last night was a killer, I can't believe they missed all of those free throws in regulation. They could have been going back to Oakland 1-1.

Does anybody care anymore? I mean, seriously, the last time the NBA playoffs had admirable ratings was when Kobe and Shaq were sporting all their dirty laundry against Detroit in the Finals. They've never been anywhere near as high as when Jordan played.
