Default Disproving the "Judgment day is next week" thing, how??

As it happened last year, people in this country have received news that judgment day is extremely close and that it is next week. I am one between a few who still doesn't believe it, but like my fellow dudes who oppose this idea..I can't disprove it. No one, and I mean NO ONE knows when judgment day is!

PS. Oh, and if someone can tell me if they know which foul site or news page is releasing this, I'd be more than happy to read through it.

Thats the best prove, but watching people cry and not speak a word and..and...makes two weeks sound like 2 years...most of my friends are extremely strange.

Lol, they even said the moon changed axis and that it's already in that news the Judgment day is close (next week) ... didn't find one thing in the news related to it.

I guess there is nothing you can do to change their minds besides provide evidence that their assertions are wrong as well as provide numerous examples throughout history of people proclaiming the end of the world. In the US, there was a big movement in the late 19th century that thought the world was going to end in a few months. Nothing happened.

Otherwise, you could possibly profit off the situation. Place a bet or two on whether or not the world will end. Sounds like a great way to make five bucks.

I will try my best to disprove it before it "happens" ... guys, I want your thoughts on this, why do people repeat it throughout history and STILL believe it..
Don't forget to link me to the site releasing these lies if you found it..
    Thanks.

It started as a small rumor...as usual, it happens each and every year. But this time they insist it's real and that it was on news or something...so people believe them.
Of course I didn't anything like this on news.

The people where you live must be really stubborn, you'd think that if they are indeed proven wrong every year then they might stop believing the same story.

What I think is extremely more interesting is: why do people believe this stuff? I fully agree that most of the time people only see what they want to, so then why to people want to see signs of the end of the world.

He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" At length, when the sight is dazed and the moon is buried in darkness, and the sun and moon are joined together that Day will Man say; "Where is the refuge?"

    Qur'an 75.6-10

And on the day when the Hour riseth the guilty will vow that they did tarry, but an hour - Thus were they ever deceived. But those to whom knowledge and faith are given will say: "The truth is, ye have tarried, by Allah's decree, until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but ye used not to know."

    Qur'an 30.55-57

Await they aught save the Hour, that it should come upon them unawares? But some of its portents (indications and signs) have already come, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their reminder?

    Qur'an 47.18

Well.. we don't know when but we know it will be.. There are signs, yes... but people has missed that (or choose to ignore). It can come during our life time or after we're dead. As long as we prepared.. No matter.

There is no way to "disprove" a claim like this, but ask them your reasons, and show that their reasoning is faulty.

If you can show their belief is irrational, you have done all you can. That is all you need to do.

This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.

Yeah, the fact that the world is going to end next week is really farfetched. And yeah, there is no way on Earth someone could be certain the world is going to end at any time. And this has happened a thousand times over. In the seventies, everyone thought the world was going to end because the planets aligned. And last year, rumours started that the world would end on June 6th, 2006. Get it? 6/6/06, cause its 666, when actually it isnt. Just goes ot show people are paranoid.

Especially since I've seen reports that 666 isn't actually the number of the Beast.

I guess...I know I am prepared, but what made them think that it's next week...which I'm sure is a false claim...NO ONE can ever know when the hour (or judgment day) will start...not even a second before it's time.

The four horsemen of the apocalypse are drinking and partying in the bar with Jebus, Allah, and Beelzebub. They're commemorating Easter. St. Paul told me that Jebus is a bit depressed... You know, the whole dying and resurrecting thing kind of sets the mood down. But no worries! His hopes are up with the whole apocalypse thing. He is so excited about the prospect of dying all over again for the sins of mankind. He's such a martyr...

I was just informed that the scarier angel, the skeletal one, just threw up on the floor and passed out. Man, Jebus' wine must be really strong! So tell your friends not to worry... for now. They're too drunk to do anything.

Hmmm... I wonder what I have to do to get into that party. Sacrifice a goat? Blow myself up? Bring a cake? God, they're so exclusive!

If the world is going to end, then it is absolutely likely to be done by human race. Just blow up all the nuclear weapons and watch the show!

I personally find this scarier than biblical apocalypse... At least in biblical apocalypse some are saved and there's a hope.

Anyway if you want to shut them up for good, have a bet! Bet $100 that there will be no Judgment day next week, anyone who believe Judgment day bet same amount for the opposite. Bring a lawyer and produce a legal documentation. If the world ends, you will not need $100, so you don't lose. If you win the bet, then you win $100! It's a win-win solution and I do not believe the person will take the notion of judgment day so eagerly next time, especially in front of you.

You just reminded me of the Jehova's witnesses. They have moved the supposed "judgement day" so many times now, even they have trouble believing in it anymore.

Ignore trying to disprove it - it would be futile.

Instead, ask them to prove it to you. They mention the moon changing its axis - tell them to prove it to you. If they just brush you off then your only option is send them an card wishing them a Happy Judgement Day when it supposedly arrives.
