Default Does this happen with anyone else?

I'm attaching a shield boss onto a shield, right? I center it, get it perfectly aligned in all three dimensions, attach it. Done.

I map it in the texture file. Perfect.

I open the texture file onto the model and boom.

For some reason, the shield boss seems to slide around as I rotate the model. It's not the object, because in wireframe it's right on. No gaps, nothing. Yet it seems like it's moving because the texture of the shieldboss at certain angles looks like its off center of the shield.

It also isn't because of two objects being mapped separately, since I joined them together before mapping.

Is this an optical illusion in Max? Or is it because the shield and boss are two separate objects attached instead of one whole object? What?

Does that happen when you have selected the shield as object, or element ?

In the latter case you, you'd have to weld the vertices to make shield and boss into one element, to stop them from rotating around different centers.

Both. And when not selected either.

It has to be an optical illusion. Because when I render it, it looks fine in the render.

As you can see here: In the viewscreen (Perspective).

Seems way off center doesn't it?

And now in the render window (F9).

A little small, but otherwise fine.

    Is that weird or what?

It doesn't look that centered in both screens, maybe it's flipped normals but honestly I'm clueless.
