Mood: Apathetic.

My life is spiralling downward.
I couldn't get enough money to go to the
Blood Red Romance and Suffocate me dry concert.
It sucks 'cause they play some of my favorite songs
like "Stab My Heart Because I Love You" and
"Rip Apart My Soul" and of course,
"Stabby Rip Stab Stab".
And it doesn't help that I couldn't
get my hair to do that flippy thing.
Like that guy from that band can do.
Some days, you know...

I'm an emo kid, non-conforming as can be
You'd be non-conforming too if you looked just like me
I have paint on my nails and make-up on my face
I'm almost emo enough to start shaving my legs

I'm dark, and sensitive with low self-esteem

Girls keep breaking up with me,

I'm just a bad, cheap imitation of goth,
You can read me "Catcher in the Rye", and watch me jack off.
I wear skin tight clothes while hating my life
If I said I like girls, I'd only be half right!

I look like I'm dead and dress like a homo
I must be emo
Screw XBox, I play old school Nintendo

I like to whine and hate my parentals

Me and my friends all look like clones
I must be E-Mo

My parents just don't get me, you know.
They think I'm gay just because they saw me kiss a guy.
Well, a couple guys. But I mean, it's the 2000s.
Can't 2 ... or 4 dudes make-out with
each other without being gay?
I mean, chicks dig that kind of thing anyways.

I don't know how anyone can possibly be proud to be an emo.

Yeah, that song is old, but still true. I hate emo music, as in passionately hate, not just dislike.

the new EMO trend has only sprung into the mainstream in that time.

I have friends who are emo, and obviously it's started to rub off on me, because I'm begining to find stuff like this really, really stupid and ignorant, when a little while ago I would have laughed and agreed.

People forget that emo is much, much more connected to indie culture than to goth, the music, the clothing... Wannabe-goth is a bit of a misnomer, hardcore-indie would be better.

I have a lot of respect for people, anyone, goth, emo, punk, whatever, who wear thier subculture on their sleeve, I think it takes a lot of courage in this day and age. Don't get me wrong, I'd never want to be one, but I can still respect them.

Emo is actualy a way for fashion/trend/music industries to present something related to the rock/metal/punk/goth trend and style without the "evil","dark" feeling to it. I am a metal fun for years now and despise these goth-metalhead wannabies. In a Slayer concert I attended several metalheads stood by the door and didnt let any emos pass through. I find some emo chicks to be particularly hot but most of the really piss me off.Emo isnt a belief or a cultural trend its a make belief. Do you really think that all those emo kids have problems at home? I have a friend who has been living along since the age of 10( both of his parents died in an accident) and so far he hasnt turn emo even though he is sometimes depressed. Stupid emos arent even worth our trouble.

Sometimes I cry in my $250,000 suburban house because my parents won't let me get a nicer DVD player.

There are alot of these so called EMO kids at my school they are rather annoying and sometime makes you want to hit them.

Just a note:
Most people here aren't discussing "emo" as a music genre but rather as a lifestyle, which, undeniably, many take as their preferred stance in life hence why they are mocked.




When you look at the first guy, you think "metalhead", when you look at the second guy, you think "emo".
It's not as simple as "all those that dress like that or have that hair cut are emos", but humans thrive on generalisation and stereotype, it's how our brain copes with variety, by categorising data, namely "life styles".
And let's face, it's "trendy" to be "sensible" and for young males to "cry".
