In my Venice campaign, battle difficulty on Hard.
I layed seige to Bologna (held by the Germans) with 2 full stacks. totalling around 5500 troops.
I was up against 1 full stack of good German troops, totalling around 2600 men.
My trebuchets unleashed hell for about 10 minutes, then my veteran soldiers entered Bologna to hold the line while the rest of my army entered.
The legendary battle for the streets of Bologna began, I was victorious.
Now the German army retreated to the sanctuary of the Center Plateau.
I maneuvered my army into two sides, a pincer formation. However, one side got to the Center before the other (held up by a damn Spear unit in the streets)
The under the sheer might of a German charge half of the 1st attack wave of the pincer movement fled. The rest we're holding out a losing battle against roughly 2200 men against my 500/600 men.
Finally the other side entered the Center, but because of the amount of fighting they had already done they we're very tired or exhausted. These men held out for about 20-30 minutes but eventually failed in their task.
Worst situation, why? I lost to a AI while having superior troops (note, the Battle Timer ran out when my 2nd army entered the Battlefield).
I would've won if the Germans didn't retreat to the Center or if the Battle Timer wasn't onmy 2nd army was much more superior and had the addition of Pike Miltia!
O well, we got their King!![]()
I managed to get into my very own Thermopylae. Very large French army, led by the King, was heading towards Milan, which I held as the HRE. The closest army I had was 2 units of Imperial Knights, and 2 more units of Armoured Sergeants. I knew that the French wanted Milan (they had attacked before) and I was not going to let them have it.
The two armies met in the Alps, where the French cavalry was unable to flank, and could be easily dispatched by my spearman, while the knights took care of any infantry. I held them to a draw, which gave an army in Italy sufficient time to move to Milan. In the next turn, the two armies met again, but my numbers were whittled down due to fatigue and archers. Their losses were still greater than mine, and I managed to destroy them completely the next turn, as they were close enough to Milan for me to attack.
It was a really fun situation to be in, and I got a symbol on the campaign map for my first battle! (Can't remember what they're called...)
Heroic Victory
In the new world, a small army of 3 Lancers Cav, 1 cannon unit, 2 arquisbetors,General and 2 hospitallers. (I had total of 550 soldiers)
these army was meant to reinforece another army, but on the way was attacked by a full stack aztec army (with 2000 units), so I retreated, and be damned...they were ambushed by another army, same as before!
with no retreat, the battle had started...needles to say that this was a blood bath...but not for my side!
I managed to kill plenty soldiers with charges and flank attacks, my general that battle has died, but it was worth it...
I lost like 350 men, but killed 900+ and captured 900+
I won this battle.
I have a screen of the outcome somewhere...if u want, I can look for it.
On the map, as England in my first game when i had control of France and Britain as Well as most of the 'Holy Strip'. Anyway, Denmark killed my King at Antwerp so i Cahrged Them all the way to Thorn (losing a few Battles) ruining my Economy and Opening me up to the rest of Europe. Then the Mongols also arrived to where now over half my military was stranded. Then i started up with France. In Battle though it was probably a week ago when with HRE i was attacked at Stettin by a force 3 times my size but managed to destroy it with my Archers taking out their seige equipment and my spearman heroically holding the breaches.
in my venetian campaign, i have all of italy and ragusa zagreb. well, i put forts blocking off every enterance into my lands as usual. well, byzantines send one full stack at one of my forts bordering durazzo, no big deal, i can handle that. two turns later, one full milanese stack, one full hre stack, two full hungarian stacks, and one full french stack attack my borders. now, i havent fought it out yet. this if the first time ive been worried about losing almost all of my border settelments, and this is in vanilla
but i think i can pull through, i have one full stack of italian militia, cavalry militia, and pavise crossbowmilitia that are all silver starred in experience. im also building two stacks, each containing venetian heavy infantry and venetian archers with men at arms. only the byzantines have sieged one of my forts yet so i have begun reinforcing my forts, they are all about 3/4 stacked with semi-experienced militia units. i am just hoping my forts can hold them off, but if they make it through they will run into full professional stacks![]()
As the Holy Roman Empire, I was at war with the Danes, the English, the Venitians, the French, the Scottish, the Byzantine Empire, Hungary and I was excommunicated, with only half of the beginning provinces.
Worse economical situation was when I had -71000 florins as portugal. For 200 years. 200 years.

Year 1109.Byzantiump.s , the last jihad happent in 1086 , i played on 1 tpy and gave a lot of cash to the muslims factions they get owned by the Crusaders and me
) Sultan Jalal I along whit Baraka declared the Secound Jihad on Constantinople (i crushed the first , only the egyptians entered it) Well the turks entered whit 3 elite stacks . Emperor John had no hope on beating them but i assinated Jalal . Tutush became Sultan and advanced killing most of my family and cleaning 80% of my economy. . i was in a -900 debt . Soon i lost Smyrna . Nicaea and Thessalonika to the Jihaders and the next turn the last Jihading stack ( the last one got killed in Thessalonica becouse only 2 units of it remained . Well Constantinople falled to Tutush , The Conquester Of Constantinople . 3 turns later i got an offer of being a Vassal . I accepted . so i was in -4000 debt . have 5 units in total owning only Durazzo , Athens and Corinth . Emperor Andronikos I Succesed John . Well 50 turns later the turks were in decline and Emperor Andronikos II retook former european holdins but got killed in Constantinople . His brother Isaac II entered the throne and retook Nicaea and Smyrna . So in 1171 after many losses i retook my former empire and saw Isaac being assinated and saw Foteinos I owning the remains of the Turks. Then i had a major PC crash and lost the save game . Damm it

didnt get to take any pictures of mine, but i finally got out of it OK. i held them off with small armies so i could get mass profit for a while. from there i made 3 stacks of venetian HI with venetian archers, a general each and some men at arms. lets just say that i now own greece, southern germany, part of the balkans, and all of france except the normandy coast.
Letting Denmark expand to take 1/4 of the known world. By now much of the forum knows about my "Russian migration tales..."

Well, mine is the current HRE campaign, -3200 florins, At war with Venice, Denmark, Sicily, Egypt; My biggest Army was finishing a crusade against **SUPRISE** Jerusalem. Sicily had backstabbed me with a suprise attack on Bologna, killing the Emperor. My best general, on his way to relieve Bologna, had been killed by an inqusitor. A****le. I was being forced to churn out soldiers at Innsbruck and send reinforcements from the North due to a dwindiling treasury, which hit the negatives (Heck, the US gov't has a national debt of what, 200+ trillion? why can't I armor and recruit with a measly -1000?) .
I finally retook Bologna, chased a small army of Venetian cowards out of the Alps without a fight, and was able to get back in the $$, then a HUGE Dane Crusade army, finding that they had made it into my lands just in time for me to END the crusade, decided to take Hamburg, garrisoned by a small contingent of knights, sergeants, and peasant archers.
As it stands now I'm rushing 1/2 my crusading army back to Italy to reinforce my soldiery there, and trying to rush a few units north to reinforce the HRE capitol, manned by 4 units of spearmen and 2 P. Archers. Thanks to a romantic princess who disgraced herself by running off with some Milanese chump, I have only one marriage alliance with Spain, too far off to help, and a far off alliance with Hungary, France, and the Pope. Blah.
Jeez, I'd like to be in these tough situations... I think it's a curse just to be able to blow over the AI... even on VH.
Maybe I'm not trying the right nations.
What nation, and under what circumstances, should I try so I can get royally screwed? I WANT to be left in Corinth with 2 Byzantine Spearmen and my King, with a 5000 florin debt. It would be fun.
I'm crazy man. I'm crazy. [/will ferrel]

My worst situation was when I was playing as England (my first campaign) and I was overrun by the Scots. I was such a noob then.
lets see mine was my first game ever and i was playing as france, and I had conquerd most of known europe (coincidently I conquered mostly what napoliean conquered, and even the ibreian pennisula was revolting agaisnt me), and I had the misfortune to decide that i coudl attack the papal states, cuz I thought I was strong enough and I did and I won and I thought I was awsome , but lo and behold the pope calls a crusade agaisnt my ONE city that I need the most and for some reason was my least defended, well after all of europe joind that crusade I decided to let them hae the settlement and I started to inviste a large amount of my money into a invasion force for the new world, by the time I could go I had two huge armies made up of french nobles, and the best archers, and longbow men, well it took me much longer to get to the new world then i though, and I thought that I could of gotten much more money then i did from sacking the citis, and I lost my first army at a seige (how can peasent armed with wooden spears take down armored nobles!!!!!!) well needless to say after that defeat, and then finding out that there wasnt that much money in the new world, I decided to shift my attention back home, which i found out was in a lot of trouble since all of my border settlements were being attacked, and I hadnt upgraded my armies for a few decades so i was behind, and I had economy of about -70000 (after sacking a city in the new world) and all of this started with me attacking the papal states (I will never ever do that again, no matter how powerful you are)
Fat cats will rule the world.
