Royal House Question

Hello again.

Another question for you guys: The third son of the starting faction leader for Bohemia (sorry I don't have names down yet) isn't granted Member of the Royal House status. Is this a bug or is this on purpose for a reason?

uh... in his retinue, it says he is a son of a foreign noble... I don't know the name of the king... but anyways, he could have been adopted, and so he is not of the CURRENT royal family blood... however, if all the blood sons die, and he becomes king, then the royal blood line will change, and he will become member of the royal house...

He is the third son (by blood/same last name) of the starting faction leader (making him the blood brother of the current faction leader). A 'retinue' is someone who is in your entourage (ie not a trait but a person that hangs out with the character). He has the 'son of a foreign noble' hanging out with him....that's not him.

Hmmm...maybe a bug then?

well, as this is not my area of expertise, I can't comment too much on it... however, it seems kind of strange to me that someone would have the son of a foreign noble hanging out with him... no? Like I said, I'm not sure, but maybe that's just the way the traits and ancies people marked someone as a son of a foreign noble... maybe because the king can't have adopted sons at the start of the campaign... don't know, hopefully DaVinci or someone who knows will read this..

Naturally i know the background as i modded the traits (while also this kind of trait goes back to Ghengis Khan's basic idea, who went inactive since v0.4x):
Only the leader and the heir can have that ability ... but actually i guess (and thought already longer), that i'll change the traits-title and description to fit better, but first for v1.0.
I'm thankful for suggestions.

There are just two kinds of family characters in this regard:
- Current leader and heir in person and
- all other family members (who can enter the trait, if they become leader of heir)
... and consider, if you make suggestions, how the AI plays with that trait, as they cannot change the heir-setting.

To this theme, look also into the topic where i explained the role-play in Chiv ... where is this topic, i don't know atm.

I would suggest a family member that does not fall into 'The Royal House' not be penalized for such...but rather just give those that do a bonus (as you already do).

@Drak...just read the description of "Son of a Foriegn Noble". It's a very logical retinue and makes sense when you think about it.

Thanks, both of you, for the timely responses. Now to go replay a battle I just had that CTD'ed on me after my decisive victory.

(I'll try to auto resolve this time as I suspect it'll just CTD again if I fight it out again.)

Chiv0[1].9_Hotfix02, check.

The battle took place during the rebels turn. I had saved the game during the battle deployment stage (you know where it shows you your army numbers and the enemy and who's got the advantage...) Anyway, I reloaded the game and didn't activate the script until the battle was rewon and over. The rebels finished their turn, my turn started, I reactivated the script and I'm good to go.

hmm, well, we are planning on probably getting rid of the script, since it doesn't do much anyways, and this might be just another reason to get rid of it... thanks for the bug report..
